Our preschool theme for the week of her birthday was rainbows. That sounded like a good party theme to me. On Monday, we made invitations. I drew a rainbow scanned, copied and printed 12. She colored them with me. I was surprised to learn how well she knew the order of the colors, and her coloring within the lines was (I thought) superb.
I colored the clouds on each one, and she and I both cut them out. Then we glued them into some on-hand blank cards I had. I was going to write the party info into the cards, but after four of them, I got smart and printed the information on sticker sheets we had on hand. Then I let her cut the sticker labels out, and attach them to the cards.
On Tuesday, I sorted my sticker collection for birthday and rainbow themed things. Then I let Lolley add stickers to the outside of each card. Then I wrote the addresses on the back of each, and we took a stroller walk with her sister and delivered them all. Everyone lives close in this community, so although we invited 12, it didn't really take all that long.
Why 12? Well, 12 kids in her primary class. Seemed appropriate to invite them all. If you plan to have a third of the invitees show up...well that would be a perfect size party, right?
