Actually ALANA, the dell dj has been proven to last almost twice as long as the ipod (before the running system crashes), and i dont even have to go in to how short the battery of the ipod lasts (the dell dj has had no problems with the battery, while many ipods last less then a year. Also, because so many ppl have ipods many hackers now create virus's for the ipod, apple can do virtually nothing against this no attack on ipod as the antivirus program on all pcs confliscts with the macs, itunes is for both and therefore no debug program can be attached to itunes. For cost the dell is simply cheaper because dell is a larger company then mac and their company is not almost based on a mp3 player, this gives them the power to lower prices because most customers are purchasing computers anyways (and therefore the dell dj can be used as a targeted prodeuct rather then a broad range market one). Finally if you really think that Sony is a "crappy" company then you need to reevaluate yourself. Same with archos, panasonic and DELL THE #1 COMPUTER SELLER IN THE WORLD (true statement). Any other questions?

You leave me no choice.
Lets compare shall we:
Apple iPod: 20 gigs for $299.00.
Dell Dj: 20 gigs for $298.00
Oh wow, way to save a dollar. Not only that but if you go to the Apple store and show them your student id they will give you a discount of $30.00.
Apple iPod: 5.6 Ounces, the dimensions (WxDxH) are 2.4" x .57" x 4.1"
Dell Dj: 6.8 Ounces, the dimensions (WxDxH) are 2.5" x 0.74" x 4.0"
the iPod is lighter and not some bulky piece of crap.
Apple iPod: 12 hours of battery life
Dell Dj: 12 hours of battery life
Hey look, its THE SAME.
Apple iPod: For Mac and Windows
Dell Dj: For Windows only
Apple iPod: Comes with iTunes, considered to be the best music program out there, and the largest legal music downloading store.
Dell Dj: Comes with Music Match Jukebox version 9. Who the hell has ever heard of that. And it sucks anyway.
Apple iPod: 25 minutes of anti-skip protection.
Dell Dj: Mysteriously does not provide that information.
Apple iPod: 20 Equalizer settings.
Dell Dj: 8 Equalizer settings.
Apple iPod: Supported audio formats include AAC, Mp3, Mp3 VBR, Audible, AIFF, Apple Lossless, and WAV
Dell Dj: Supported audio formats include Mp3, WMA, and WAV
The iPod features many ways to customize, such as playlists, the menu screen, sleep timers, and much more.
I'm not even going to keep going.

Oh here, I'll give the dell dj some points:
Apple iPod: Comes with a one-year replacement plan.
Dell Dj: Comes with a two-year replacement plan.
Hey look, the one and basically only thing that the dell dj has going for it. Apple does provide a two-year warranty for $60.00. I will say that that is the only thing that sucks about it, but considering it won't break anyway and how much better it is than the dell dj, you don't need it.

As for other brands like Sony, they sell their VAIO pocket digital music player $499.00 for 40 gigs, whereas the iPod 40 gigs is only $399.00. Basically right there it's gonna suck. It weighs more and looks even stupider. I'm not even giving it a chance because I already know it sucks penis.

okay, you're talking about the new dj which was released around a month ago. mike and i have the originial, which is 15GB, 16 hrs of battery life, and $199. so what if its not 20GB, i highly doubt that any of us are listening to more than 3700 (what the dell stores) songs anyway. does it really matter if its bulky? does 2 ounces make the difference? also, before the new ipod came out the generation 4 or w/e, cnet.com picked the dell over the ipod anyway. i think they what theyre talking about, or at least id like to think they know more than any of us.

actually you are completly wrong, your sources are far outdated, dell just came out with a 2 new dj models, one (the 20gb costs 250$, the other is the same size as the mini ipod and costs only $199, im sorry you are simply incorrect, even if you do get a student discount the dj is still cheaper. the new "mini" dj for 199 holds more songs then the mini ipod and is the same size, the new dj for 250 is only slightly bigger then the ipod (it is smaller then the old dj). You are wrong.

What the hell I'm not fucking wrong, the sources are there see them for yourself. You just know that iPods are in fact better and yeah they will go down in price even more as years go on making that piece of mother fucking shit dell dj obsolete. You're just jealous. You're wrong.

Right on sister, plus mac will cover any problems with the ipod for free within 12 months. Oh and guy, you are just flat out wrong on two points asshole. First ipods have gone down in price, one year ago, the 10GB ipods were $300, now the 15 GB ipods are $200 (non-click wheels) I saw it with my own eyes yesterday at the Mac store in Salem so suck my balls. I bet you $20 that the price of the 20 GB ipods will decrease by at least 50 dollars within the next six months. Also, u think you're so Jewish, but u f*cking mispell "hannaka" are u dumb or just retarted? I don't know you, so I'm asking truthfully, cause if you have a mental disability, then that explains everything, but if you're just a dumbass, then stop bitching and wasting everyone's time.

We arnt talking about "hannaka", we are talking about the fact that dj's are cheaper, and now because you decieded that you had to throw in your 2 cents we are talking about the fact that you have the intellectual depth of a ash tray.
