Well, I had a somewhat powered down Christmas and jolly relaxing it was too.
I spent Christmas and Boxing Day with my friends BJ and Sharon, who looked after me very well, even if they are now starting to get somewhat creaky, poor souls. Many truffles and bottles of champagne provided by John Lewis here in Reading were consumed...as for the credit crunch, I say think about all those people on the Titanic who waved away the sweet trolley! I've been so wired due to work and politics commitments I am all skin and bone anyway.
Yesterday was spent at one of my aunties where I saw my sister and my two nieces who are sweet as sweet and nice as nice. The Hannah Montana dance mat and the etch a sketch thingy which I battled through Toys R Us for were well received. I must say I found seeing them hugely restorative.
It made me reflect that for around ten years to about 2005 I didn't have a family life, due to tensions with my father and sister. Thankfully I was adopted by other families, which certainly saved my emotional life, and stopped me becoming completely stony - and gave me places to retreat to. Nevertheless, I am glad to have nieces, I must say.
So, to families everywhere - whether adopted or genetic!
I hope Father Christmas brought you and yours every joy.
