It was awhile since Aoi felt so sedated, so groggy. The last time he could remember waking up in this state was when a soccer ball met the back of his head during practice in high school and the occasion before that was… Back in this mental institution where he came to after comatose from the incident which came to light not too long ago.
The white door opened silently and his doctor came in - Shou’s father came in. Aoi was accustomed to this man, but he wasn’t sure what to think of him after learning that he was Shou’s father and the owner of this facility. That coupled with the back that he created this place as a lifetime prison for Shou…
“So Shiroyama-kun, how’re you feeling today?”
Aoi snorted. “Same answer to your daily question, Doctor Kazamasa.”
“I see. You should know that the effect will wear off in the next couple of hours-“
“Yes, sorry to interrupt but I do actually know that, and I do actually know what you’re going to say next. How long are you going to keep me in here like this? How long more? Am I going to be the next inmate here condemned for eternity? Just like Shou?” Aoi spat, his chest heaving up and down from all the pent up rage accumulated over the past 2 months. 2 months it has been. 2 months since he’s last seen his mother or anyone else as his condition was diagnosed as too unstable for him to have any visitors. What bullshit.
Doctor Kazamasa stilled for a moment and released his bated breath. “It’s true then. That you and my son are friends. I take it that you are aware of Hiroto too?”
“Aware? Why that particular choice of vocabulary doctor? Is Hiroto not human as well?”
“Well yes he is but-“
“But what? He is just as human as Shou is. Why are all of you treating him as though he is a detriment to Shou!? And these other ‘people’ inside of me - are you going to treat them the same too? And lock me up just like you did to Shou!?”
The doctor opened his mouth to say something, but clamped it shut again. “I’m sorry for not having any answers up till now Shiroyama-kun. But you must understand that this is a complex condition and a number of practitioners even doubt the existence of this condition even today. It is not something clear-cut that we can treat overnight, hence your prolonged stay in the facility. It is not for a bad cause Shiroyama-kun. Same goes for Shou as well.” Doctor Kazamasa filled up his clipboard and flipped it back to the first page. “I don’t know what you’ve heard so far and if you understand this, but everything that I’ve done so far is for the good of my son.”
