It was my call.
Shattered glass bits and a broken wooden frame on the floor, a photograph half tucked under the television console; a worn bass case at the foot of the sofa and the door wide open.
The slap of rubber soles against pavement retreated further from the range of my hearing. Creaking of the lift doors sounded once, and another time before absolute silence took over.
It was my sole discretion to chase after and retrieve the blonde man I've just lost.
Yet, the back of my eyes started to burn, my ego immobilised me and my pride caught in my throat.
