the Hawaii trip for those still interested
i know i got back a week and a half ago and should have made this post then but i was exhausted the first few days then i got really sick. I ended upp with a severe UTI. i went to my regular doctor and all they gave me an antibiotic but i was in so much pain that i could not keep anything down. mom and wes took me the ER where they gave me stuff there then sent me home with pain meds, diferent antibiotic that would be easier on my stomach, and stuff for nausua. i was in a lot of pain this weekend and have taken all the pain meds but i am finally feeling better and was able to go out last night for wes's birthday. we didn't do much just dinner with katie and james and then hang out at her house for a while. i feel bad cause i was not able to get him anything due to the illness and i was so out of it he paid for our dinner last night. i will make it up to him some how.
As for the Hawaii trip, it was great and here is the basics of what we did.
We left early saturday moring for a 2 hour trip to dallas and then a 7.5 hour trip to Honolulu. thankfully i could sleep for part of the trip and one of the movies was good so i watched that. once in honolulu we went straight to the boat. we went throught secruity so many times and checked in and got our ship cards (which hold all power on the ship, it is your room key, it accesses your account to charge stuff, it holds your soda prrogram sticker). we found our room which was tiny and had 2 twin beds and a fold out couch like thing. wesley and i switched out on who sleep on the bed cause the coach thing was horrible. lets not even get into the bathroom. i am pretty sure you can imagine the tiny tiny bathroom. we explored the ship a little and then had dinner at the asian resturant. it was amazing. it was basically a 4 course meal including desert. we left port at about 8pm and we went to bed shortly after.
the next day we were in Maui. Wesley and i went snorkeling and his mom went to the beach. we snorkeled for about an hour at a spot where green sea turtles like but wes and i did not see any. we saw one later, that was cool. the reef and fish were amazing though. i wish we had taken an underwater camera. the next spot was at Molikie (spelling off) crater, which is an ancient cinder cone. since it was so calm we snorkeled in a different spot then usual and it was a bad idea. we all got swept away by the current and had to fight our way back to the ship. i got drag inby one of the ship's crew and wes got picked up by another boat that came to help. we moved further into the crater where we should have been but the 2 of use were done. we just stayed on the boat. i also wasn't feeling well. i get sea sick. that evening we had planned to a sunset cocktail cruise which would have been really romantic except his mom thought it sounded cool too. so the 3 of us went to watch the sunset over the ocean. it was great. there were drinks and food. i got sick again but still had fun. back at the ship we got room service and went to bed.
the next day we were still in Maui so wes and i took a shuttle to Hilo Hatties and did my suvinior shopping. we did the pick an oyster thing and we got a white pearl. i got that set for my sister for birthday so we got a free oyster. he picked this one and got 2 pink pearls. he got those set for me (very very nice) so we got another. 2 black pearls this time which we broght back unset. ne is for my mom and one for his. we then just explored hte ship. we swam in the pool, played cards, and luckly semt most of the day alone. finally got me some meds for sea sickness and i felt fine rest of the trip.
nex port was Hilo on the big island. the 3 of us had a day together. we went to the zoo/botanical garden, a geothermal pool which we swam in, Lava tree National park, and a macadamian nut farm. the pool was neat since it is heated by the volcano. the nut farm was lame but had really good ice cream. that night wes and i had dinner at the sushi restuarant ant it was delicious. we went to a show where they performed songs from Phantom of the Opera, Katz, and Jesus Chirst Superstar. We went back to the room to watch as we passed the active volcano. that was really cool. we could see it running down from the top and then the closer we got the more we could see it running into the ocean. we watched as new land formed. the pictures i took don't really show what i saw. it was hard to capture on film.
We went to see the comedian then to bed.
The next we did waterfalls and rainforest trip thingy. it was ok. the group was small but the road horrible and eventually climbing in and out of the back of a van gets old. saw some nice falls but i wish i had been able to actually see kona the port we were in. i knida wish we had done that there cause it was a reall small town. we couldn't even pull into port. we were anchored off shore and they used tenders (lifeboats) to get us back forth from the ship. we ate at little italy that night and it was good.
next day we were in Kaui. wes and i rented a Harley and we were suppose to have a tour guide but not enough signed up for the tour. they gave us a map and said the bike ahd to be back at 5pm. we stayed with the other 3 couples and went up to the canyon and then further up a horrible road. but once at the top it was worth it. we were 4000 feet up and insode the cloads. we were looking down on the Na Pali coast which was so beautiful. the water was so blue. lots of pics. we came back down a different road and on one side there was the canyon on the other the ocean. it ws amazing. we had lunch in a small town and then back to the bike shop and then to the ship. his mom stayed on ship all day then we all went to a Luau. we didn't really care but his mom wanted to do that. we ate ,watched a show, then back to the ship.
next spent on ship and once we left port spent sleeping cause i did not feel well. boat was going to fast so we could fit everything into the schedule they had planned. we missed the fire works because there was a medical emergency on the ship and had to pull into a different port for an hour. i got really sick half way through my amazing steak and had to go back to the room.
Last day off ship. we visited Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. that was definately a sad and sober place. you can stil see oil rising from the ship more that 60 years later. we spent almost 5 hours waiting at the airport. plane left a 7:30 pm and landed in Nashville at 11:30am Sunday morning. we stopped in dallas again too.
i had fun. i am glad it is over. i wish wes's mom would have taken someone with her. she got on our nerves. we just wanted to be together and then she didn't want to be alone. she is to much of a tourist for me. i would have like to not do as many planned shore excursions by the ship and did stuff on our own. i liked the bike day the best cause we could do what we wanted.
