Emma: [...] that you've completely converted me away from the Aphelion is Kaden's ship camp. I used to be the most crazed supporter of that
Kirmon: SUCCESS~~ :D
Kirmon: i feel proud.... lol
Emma: You should lol!
Emma: Now I try to picture Kaden flying her and it's like...does not compute
Kirmon: i should write fic in which this happens to throw you off. *nod* /shot
Emma: FFFFF.
Emma: *sudden mental image of some kind of Alister and Hax altercation that involves "Azimuth, your boy toy has stolen my ship"*
Kirmon: .....omg this lol

"Azimuth, your boy toy has stolen my ship."

Alister didn't respond for the first several seconds. He had no idea what to say. "....What?"

The voice over his commlink - accented, female, but he couldn't quite place who it was - sighed. Or perhaps it was a growl. "Are you deaf? Good lord, and you're supposed to be a four-bolt General of the Guard...."

He rubbed his face and bit back a groan. One of these sorts. They liked to pile on the insults and blame, and he was usually quite convenient for that. Usually they'd be stopped before they got all the way to his comm channel; he wondered who the woman was. "I don't understand what you mean."

"I don't know how he did it, but that Kaden Koba got into the Air Force complex." Well, at least he knew she was military - "Snuck past all the security, got to the upper-level landing pads, and managed to take my ship without her so much as making a sound over the comms."

There was, Alister thought wryly, something to be said about people not knowing whom you were sleeping with.

"I can assure you, I can't help. I don't understand him any better than most of the population. ...And how are you so sure it was Koba?"

"Because he scrawled it all over the tower in permanent marker. Along with underhanded insults and what I’m told are physicist jokes."

Oh, that definitely sounded like Kaden. "I can't do anything, I'm afraid. Surely your ship can return herself if she so desires. Perhaps she wanted to go for a flight and Koba was convenient?"

The woman sighed. "That would be just like Aphelion. Good lord, what a mess this is."

Alister could sympathize. If someone could manage to sneak into a military base it didn’t look good on the commanders, even if that someone happened to be a certified genius. People made noises about lax security and not doing your job properly, and replacements. At least once you got high enough in the ranks you'd be left alone.

"I doubt he'll broadcast it, if it's any consolation." No, he'd just be smug about it for a while before he forgot entirely in the face of his next incomprehensible idea.

"Marginally," she said dryly. "You've no idea where he might go?"

Persistent woman. He couldn't blame her. "No idea. You'll have to find them the hard way." He paused. "Good luck."

"The sentiment is so very appreciated, dear. Lepton out."

Oh, so that was why the voice was familiar. General Lepton of the Air Force.... Alister shook his head, not even trying to smother his grin. Kaden sure knew how to pick them.
