Last night I saw one of the most freaking awesomest shows ever. Went out to Sons of Hermann Hall to see the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and they totally rocked the house. My favorite was a rock opera based on slides from a 70's McDonald Corporation meeting called "Opnad Contribution Study Committee Report". Their work is totally filled with political satire and a very bohemian flair, but it is done with such an upbeat tempo and great hummable tunes. I hung out with the family, Jason, Tina, and Rachel a bit afterward and they would love to work colleges, so I am looking at repping them for the college market. I really think they would fit well and they were good people, which is, of course, my number 3 standard for working with anyone--falling in line right after: 1 are they awesome? and 2 are they marketable?. Their opener, Andrew Katz, an eccentric guitarist/comedy/vaudeville act, was also super cool and the opening band for Andrew was also interesting--Tree Wave--they make sort of techno like music with Commodores, Ataris, and Dot Matrix printers all combined into the act.
