[NVC Day 23] -- [Sometimes Words Speak Louder Than Silence] -- [Jim/Spock]

May 23, 2010 15:35

If Jim wanted to get some time to work out, it had to be late in the day after the sun had set and the cool air was starting to come with the sun's leaving or it had to be early in the morning before the rising sun started to heat up the air. So there he was, early come morning before he would head out for the trial. Things seemed to almost be ( Read more... )

Spock decided the evening after he had finished his conversation with Leonard that he would have to talk with Jim. If he had had to discuss every other painful subject over the last year with Jim, than this was no exception, regardless if it involved both of them in uncharacteristic roles.

So he had taken the car before dawn and headed out into the city, grabbing a smoothie through an automatic drive-through before simply following the resonating pings towards the Starfleet sanctioned quarters, and where he assumed Jim and Leonard would be staying. It thrummed so strong, stronger than it had in several days, and it pleased him, until he considered why he was here in the first place.

The car was parked, the engine turned off, and already the edges of the windows were frosting up...Spock stayed where he was. He finished off the rest of the smoothie while he stared off towards the sand, eyes unblinking on the moving figure until he was sucking up air through the straw.

Eik-veshtaya to'ovau kau, Spock thought to himself as he got out ( ... )

A fast turn, hand turning to the side and slicing through the air on its side in a strike for an invisible throat. He narrowed his eyes, his other hand turning over in a punch that left his wrist facing upwards, then drew back and struck like a snake as it turned over so the second knuckles were out.

Eventually, during another one of his kata, Jim spotted the lone figure moving towards him as dark and sleek as a le'matya. The creature he had never seen with his own two eyes, but he knew the sight. He let out a breath and finished the kata before he turned to Spock, standing there in the cool sand and sweating.

He stood at least as far away from the other man as Jim's high rick could reach, and for now he stepped no closer. At least their eyes had met, at least Jim was acknowledging him (nevermind it was still silent).

"...Jim." He still felt restless, heart beating too fast, as if he had run down the beach to meet him and had met a dead stop in the sand. "Do you have time to converse with me?" He should have brought a second drink, would have if he had known Jim would be exercising...

It was a surprise to see Spock there. After so many days of not seeing the Vulcan, after so very long of not speaking to him, why was Spock here? Jim shifted in the sand, deciding, before he nodded. "Yea, I'm done for today." The first words he had spoken to Spock since leaving his home nearly two weeks previous.

He walked over to a small pile of things, feeling his heart racing from his workout as well as a whole new addition of adrenaline pumping from Spock's arrival. There was a towel and a water bottle, and he grabbed both. The towel was thrown over his shoulder and he wiped his brow while taking a fast swig from the bottle.

His eyes met Spock's, remembering another beach light years away, and waited for Spock to talk first.
