[Rifts in the Boredom of Forced Sick Leave] -- [Open]

Nov 04, 2009 12:24

Things had gone... interestingly the night of the party. The small memory put a smile to Kirk's face, despite his complete boredom and annoyance at still being trapped in his room. He could leave, he could walk around, but there was nothing he could do. Damn CMO's orders ( Read more... )

everything can fuck off and die, hell must be endless paperwork, far from perfect, this could get interesting, pointy eared bastards, kirk and kirk, goddammit i am the fucking captain

It would have been prudent, Jim though, to comm first.

But comming allowed for the possibility that Jim would ignore him, or refuse him, and Jim was tired of sitting around. After Kirk's message back to him--not to mention the party--Jim was fairly confidence Kirk wasn't about to lock the door to him.

It chimed as he stood outside.

Kirk glanced up, surprised someone had come. "Who is-" He started to call out, but he could feel it. Jim. "Come in." He changed over to, opening the door.

He leaned back, feeling his back ache from leaning over for so long without moving, wearing the pair of sloppy sweat pants he had thrown on after waking up. "Jim." A slight smile, but inside he was wondering what this was about.

The smile was promising. As was the greeting. Jim entered, casually, taking in the room before his eyes came to rest on Kirk again. He was looking better. The tattoos still there, but underneath Jim could see how far Kirk had come.

"Jim," he said in return. "We... haven't had much time to talk. Lately. Thought we might catch up."

There was a lot to catch up on, business and personal, as it were, and Jim didn't want to wait any longer.

"Things have been pretty crazy." Kirk agreed, gesturing vaguely. It was definitely a 'have a seat' gesture, but could have meant the bed or the chair at the desk.

He was more then curious to see which Jim would chose. A small indicator, he thought, of how bad things were between them. The party was one thing... this was something else entirely.

Em stood outside of Jim's quarters and took a deep breath. Lenny was right. Moving on was hard but she had to do it. And if he believed she was strong enough, then...She pressed the chime.

Kirk looked up, blinking slightly. He climbed up to his feet, then walked over to the comm beside the door and leaned on it. "Who is it?"

"It's...It's Emma McCoy." she called back. "I wanted to chat, is that all right?"

"Sure." Kirk had the door open and stepped back, going towards his closet to pull on a shirt. It showed the tattoos down his spine.

Joanna pressed the chime on Jim's quarters, two sandwiches in hand that she'd managed to get before the lunch rush. She knew the replicators could have made almost as good sandwiches but they were only almost as good. Not as good, and she was really just killing time anyway. This ship was so slow, quiet. It was weird. She wasn't entirely sure what to make of it, but at least this way she'd be able to talk to someone who know what was what.

Kirk got to his feet with a groan. Was it 'come find Jim Kirk' day and someone forgot to inform him? He glanced over his shoulder at the hypo Bones had left him in case the pain from his stiffness got too bad, but decided quickly against it.

There was a comfort in it being there, though.

He walked over to the comm and thumbed the button, "Who is it?"

"Joanna," Jo responded. "I come bearing food. You busy?"

"Nah." The door opened, and Kirk stepped back from it. "Come on in, Jo."

intra-ship communication: CMO McCoy to Captain Kirk dctr_mccoy November 5 2009, 03:49:28 UTC
Hey you -

Figured you were getting pretty bored, so I thought I'd give you something to do. Look under the bed.

I'll be home a little late from shift, been running late all day.

~B

Found inside a large leather case, with a note attached "For Jim, just because..."

Kirk's heart stopped when he pulled out a familiarly cased leather case. How... How did Bones even know? He flicked open the catches and stared down at the creamy, shining wood of the guitar, daring only to stroke over it with gentle fingertips before grinning widely.

He pulled the guitar out and set it into his lap, carefully tuning the guitar. He could feel the tension in the fingers of his left hand, along with the ache that was already starting to beat. He ignored it, for now, and within minutes, gave it a strum.

It filled the room with music he hadn't heard in a long time.

Chris had decided to take it upon himself to talk to Jim about what had happened at the party - since George had been MIA ever since and the prospect of Jim and Winnie voluntarily getting together to chat was about as likely as...well, as Jim and Winnie voluntarily getting together to chat.

So he'd been wandering the corridors around the Captain's quarters for a while, watching people come and go - though Captain Kirk was on sick leave, his duties never seemed to cease. Now, he was tolerably sure Jim was alone.

He took a deep breath and pressed the door chime.

With a glass just appearing in the small replicator in his quarters, Kirk actually started at the buzzer. He left the glass where it was and walked over to the door, "Who is it?" Into the buzzer.

"It's Pike," Chris said simply. "Sorry to disturb you, but d'you have a minute?"

Just who I do and don't want to talk to. Kirk thought to himself, and opened the door. He gave a tired smile, the very edges of his eyes red. "Come on in, sir."
