[Risa, Bar] -- [Kirk and Marlena]

Aug 15, 2009 10:25

Kirk slipped into the bar, glancing around the cool interior, and grinned to himself. Off to have a drink with a woman that could potentially be baiting to kill him. Seemed to be the story of his life. Kirk took a seat up at the bar, and kept his eyes peeled for the beautiful woman from another universe.

its five oclock somewhere, not too sure how this will go

Marlena shows up a little before 1300, wearing a short, strapless dress made of a shimmery gold material that sparkles in the bright Risian sunlight. In the dimmer interior of the bar, it's not quite so blindingly brilliant, but still attracts several glances as she saunters up to the bar and leans against it, pushing her sunglasses up to rest in her hair.

She nods at Kirk in greeting. "Good afternoon, Captain."

Kirk let out a slow whistle as he looked Marlena over slowly, "...You look beautiful. Can't believe you even made it to the bar without some good looking guy picking you up." Kirk gave a lazy grin, "And I'm off duty, so just call me Jim." He offered his hand to her, with the idea of kissing hers.

She frowns, briefly--Jim is what she calls his older counterpart. But then again, she uses the same name for the Jim of her own universe, too. No reason why they can't all be Jim.

"Okay, Jim," she accepts with a smile, letting him take her hand. He's got incredible hands, really. It's no wonder she'd forgotten to mention this the last time she saw him, what with him holding her hand like that...

"I wouldn't let anyone pick me up, not when I've an appointment with my Captain to keep," she tells him.

Dashingly, Kirk kissed the back of her hand, peering up to her with those blue eyes. He pulled back a moment later, squeezing her hand, and gestured, "Want to stay at the bar or find somewhere more private to sit?" Fuck, she looked absolutely gorgeous like this.

His lips are rather amazing, too. They are familiar to her, of course (so very familiar) but he's still younger than any Jim she'd kissed before. And his electric blue eyes, that's rather different than what she's learned to handle. They still startle her a little, every time, with their blueness.

He's asked her a question, she realizes somewhat dazedly. Right. The reason she came here... "I think a more private venue would be appropriate," she says.

"Sure." Kirk stood, fingers curled around the beer he had ordered, and asked, "Still owe you a drink... what would you like?" Oh definitely wasn't hinting anything at all.

She purses her lips, thinking about it. "A mai tai, if you please." It's said more to the bartender than to him. The color of the drink should go nicely with her dress. She thanks the bartender when it arrives and sips it, letting the tangy sweetness pool on her tongue before swallowing. "Lovely," she comments, and gestures for Kirk to lead the way.

Kirk slowly walked out towards the farther tables, each tucked under a large umbrella to spare them the afternoon sun. He flopped into a seat, the beer sweating over his fingers. He gestured a little towards her, "Is that normal for your universe?"

She sits down next to him, rather less floppily. She crosses her legs delicately and relaxes slightly. "Is what normal?" she questions, unsure of what his gesture is meant to indicate.

"Such a regal outfit." Kirk asked, tilting his head very slightly.

"Regal?" she repeats, laughing. "Hardly! This is casualwear. And no," she smirks a little, "not everyone has similar fashion sense. I didn't get to where I am by dressing like a slob." She doesn't mean head of the chemistry department.

Speaking of which...she reminds herself of the reason she came here. "Jim." She lowers her voice and leans toward him. "I need to ask you about the other man who was in the brig. Is that Captain Christopher Pike?"

Kirk could tell what she meant, thanks to Jim's comments to him. "Some beautiful casual wear, then." He grinned.

But her next words made his grin drop. His eyes narrowed, his fingers tightened on the bottle he held. He gave a terse nod, "...It is. He if off limits to everyone." That threw up his defenses again. She had asked about the fucker so quickly.

She notices him tense. "I'm aware he's off-limits," she quickly reassures him. "I'm only asking because...well, obviously you've got him locked up for a reason." She sits back, unsure how much to say. "The Pike I know of, from my universe...I've never met him. Kirk killed him long before I joined the crew of the Enterprise. But I've heard stories. Everyone has." She bites her lip. "Is that the man you've got locked in the brig? The one from my universe? He's dangerous. You probably know that since you've got him imprisoned, and I am truly sorry you had to find it out the hard way."

She takes a shaky breath. Even talking abut him unnerves her. "And if that's your own Pike you've got up there, then our two universe perhaps aren't so different after all."

"Its one from your universe." Kirk confirmed, "And the man is... dangerous isn't the word." His fingers tightened a little more. "He won't be leaving that brig. Our own Pike... you could meet him. He's a strong man, good in command, but he knows how to temper it with compassion and had a crew so loyal to him they would die for him."

"He can't leave the brig," she says flatly. "Kill him. He can't be allowed to live."

She considers his words, her drink forgotten. "Pike accomplished great things. Terrible, but great. I can only imagine what he's capable of, with a good heart."

"...The Enterprise wouldn't exist and I wouldn't be here right now if Pike wasn't the man he was in this universe." Kirk said quietly, looking into the distance. He had already made up his mind, but the words... made it that much harder.
