Captain America - OMG THIS IS THE GREATEST* FILM I'VE SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!

* Some exaggeration possible

When I had seen that the first reviews coming in and they were rotten, I had a good ragecry, because how the hell you destroy a concept like Captain America, when you have resources like that?! Fortunately, the fresh reviews starting coming in and by the time I went to see the film on Friday, it was certified fresh. I was not disappointed, this is the best film I've seen this summer, better than Harry Potter 7b, Thor and even, Transformers 3. ~I ~know! Shock! No padding, no CGI overload, a lot of good camp, shirtless Steve. Yum.

Can’t really review this film for what it is because the more I think about it, the more I realize that I wasn’t as much as watching the plot as watching Steve Rogers. This film is so heavily character-driven, that I barely remember the plot but I do remember what Steve said, how he acted, how he looked etc. Normally, I’m quite nit-picky when it comes to plotholes and unusual coincidences (we get two of them in this film) or rushed scenes but I didn’t even blink when they occurred in this film, because I was too busy cheering for Steve. So some points:

- Pre-serum Steve looked really good. I remember the first trailer, where he looked just awful and I can see the negative feedback helped, as the CGI had been vastly improved. One thing tho - Steve’s voice is exactly the same pre and post serum, which means that we got to hear small, scrawny Steve Rogers speak like a prowrestler. Disturbing.
- There was a lot - and I mean A LOT of cheering when I saw the Howling Commandos. Not that we ever get a clue who this people are in the film, I don’t think a single one of them is named on-screen
- Bucky seemed pointless. His only role was to provide Steve with a boost he needed to become the real Captain America, but uh, why was he strapped to the table? What was the point of the scene? It only served to have Bucky and Cap vs Red Skull scene.
- Captain doesn’t fight Nazis, he fights Hydra, because Hydra are not Nazis according to this film and Red Skull is not a Nazi, just a crazy scientist bend on world domination. LAME! The thing with RS is that in comic books he IS a Nazi, evil, repulsive, vile, racist, homophobic, misogynist Nazi - he specifically targets minorities and non-white people. Were the creators of the film afraid to hurt the feelings of the Nazis?!
- Loved the ending so much, can’t wait for the Avengers film but I’m confused, I thought that Spider-Man is going to be in it?!?!
- Steve Steve Steve Steve Steve Steve Steve. Must you be so ridiculously hot?!
- I love Star Spangled Man! Best song ever!!!!
