I'm assuming the joke I'm meant to enjoy is the fact that this guy's rather simplistic one-note political platform can (with an economist's use of the word "rent") actually cut right to the heart of the problem with government in a profound way. In which case...

Since this is my first exposure to Jimmy, of course, I actually spent the last few minutes trying to figure out if he was a real person or a character from SNL. I like the cut of his jib.
I spent the FIRST few minutes wondering if there was an even deeper onion-peeling I was supposed to do, or if Jimmy might be an object of ridicule/hypocrisy for making the exact statement in the photo in the way we read it, but meanwhile betraying the ideals he's espousing through some venal dealings on the side. I suspect Jimmy could only be so lucky.
So, got a bit sidetracked but very much enjoyed it in the end!
