( Gokudera fell as the blood began to blossom across his shirt like a flower bursting into bloom. )

( He changed after his first kill. )

"Don't argue with me." Gokudera's voice was sharp as tried to put a tight rein on his temper, stomping through the undergrowth angrily with one hand clamped tightly around Yamamoto's arm.

"Haha, I'm sorry, Hayato." Yamamoto laughed a little.

( 'I DON'T need that. What I DO need is for you to goddamn shut up and listen long and hard enough so you don't get yourself killed out there.' Gokudera's voice was still laced with anger... )

It was Gokudera's duty to protect the Tenth.

"Jyuudaime!"

Gokudera raced towards Tsuna, knocking the young Vongola boss off his feet as he had stood facing off an opponent while another fired towards his back. ( Luckily the shot whizzed over their heads as they hit the ground hard... )

"What is this?"

Gokudera stared at the small ring of metal held out to him on the palm of a large hand suspiciously, the hint of a scowl on his face. Yamamoto smiled hesitantly and pressed the sliver of metal towards Gokudera once again.

"Won't you take it, Gokudera? It's only small. What's another ring on Gokudera's hand?"
