It's sort of unnerving to lose time like that. I swear I was only gone for a day but apparently I was gone for several. I don't like that at all. At least I got to see En.Speaking of time... Is it true that the clock in the Underground is counting down the days until "the end of all worlds"? 'Cause I don't really like the way that ( Read more... )

I've heard rumors about that before, but I don't know how true they are. I don't think anyone really knows much about the clock outside of the deities. Mostly just theories...

You left the city or something? Welcome back.

Has it ever stopped before?

Or something. But thanks!

It did stop once before. It was within the last year...but...it started again. If it was meant as a doomsday device, I would have thought it would have done something already beyond drive us insane with the ticking.

I wouldn't want to underestimate it though, either.

Y-Yeah, no worries. Just... the same old problems. Being homesick and all. Seeing En was nice but it just reminded me how much I miss it.

Did anything happen when it stopped?

And I guess that's a good point. I get a bad feeling from it but maybe calling it a doomsday device is jumping to conclusions. It has to do something though.

...

It was a pretty...bad week. Everyone in the city...ended up turning into zombies...

There was no ticking for the entire time. Every single clock in the city stopped working.

Zombies?

It's not one that I really...like to remember...

People's flesh began to rot, and their minds to disintegrate. People began eating their friends alive...and even just a scratch or a small bite was enough to infect the victim and turn them, too, into a monster that desired living flesh.

It was complete chaos and panic...probably the worst thing I've ever seen or experienced here in the city.

[And this is probably the most horrifying thing he's ever heard. As a creature whose being is focused on preservation of life and hatred for blood and violence, it is understandable that there is a longed stunned silence. ironic icon keywords are ironic]

It's just another reason we need to find a way to protect ourselves from the deities and some of the awful curses that have befallen this place.

But still... It's unpleasant just hearing about it. I can't imagine actually being there for it.

You're right about that. I always see the curses as annoyances but mostly harmless. I forget that some of them aren't so gentle.

Yuuki, do you know Umi by any chance?

I've spoken to her once or twice. I don't know her personally very well, but I've definitely seen her around.
