When a ruler screws up the people always blame the kirin for choosing him in the first place. But it isn't the kirin's fault. If anything, it's the king for screwing up in the first place! Bad things happen because of kings. That's the way it goes.
And if you really want to get into it, technically it's all Tentei's fault. A kirin chooses who the Heavens tell us to choose. If we choose wrong then that means the Heavens are at fault. It's not like we personally choose. Heaven chooses through us. So don't blame us for doing what we're made to do.
But of course people do anyway. They can't hate the Heaven's so they hate the next best thing, right? Tch.
