[The world in this dream is large and peaceful. There's nothing to see here but the endless sprawl of green fields and rolling hills. Tall mountains display in the background, the sky is a perfect blue and a light breeze blowing the smell of the sea ripples through the blades of the grass. Whoa.

[ He's been to several worlds, but nothing like this, empty of cities and just purely grass and hills. It's been ages since Roxas has seen this much space.

It's enough to make him wonder if he can still fly, here.

... shiftily, he stands on his toes and closes his eyes, and probably looks like a very silly ballerina wannabe in a black coat. ]

[kirinofen]

[He knows someone is here without seeing them. But he recognizes the presences and so he doesn't mind. In fact, he turns back around to find Roxas, spotting him not that far away. Tilting his head very slightly at the boy's behavior, he trots over casually and gives a small laugh.]

What are you doing?

[obliviomancy]

[ At the voice, Roxas's eyes snap open - he'd been pretty sure that no one was around. The question gets an answer automatically, before he registers who - and more importantly, what - he's really speaking to. ]

This place kind of reminded me of a different world.

[ Then his brain catches up to the rest of him, and Roxas frowns at the voice's familiarity. ]

Hey- Enki?

[kirinofen]

[His reactions causes the kirin to laugh and shake his head.] It is a different world. This is the kingdom of En. It's my home.

[He laughs again.] Of course! Oh, but I guess you've never seen me this way before.

I got that part. I meant a world I've been to before.

[ Curious, now! He's never met anyone who wasn't completely human before, after all. Well, except the catboys, but this is something entirely different. ]

Is that what you really look like?

[kirinofen]

Oh, I see. I doubt you'd have ever been here. The only people from other words that come here are from Hourai and China.

[He lifts his head a bit, seemingly proud.]

Yup! I am a kirin, after all.

So it's still closed off, huh... I guess that's a good thing.

[ Preen, Enki, preen. Roxas looks vaguely admiring. ]

Well, you look pretty cool. But how come you don't always look like that?

[kirinofen]

Of course it is. Aren't most worlds closed off to one another? [He paused, recalling what Roxas said.] Or maybe not, if you've actually been to other worlds before. So you can travel between them?

[Oh gladly. He appreciates being appreciated. And admired. Because he's stupid king never appreciates him. He beams at the compliment.]

Thanks! I think so. [Even if he is kinda smaller than most kirin.] Well... being in a human form is more convenient. Not just for the obvious reasons but also for the position I'm in.

Me? Yeah. But I haven't exactly gotten the chance to go to worlds like this.

[ Still, it's turning out to be a pretty good day after all. He's almost smiling, like the big traveling dork he is. ]

... Right. It'd be pretty hard to use the network with hooves. What do you mean position, though?

[kirinofen]

Huh... That's kind of funny. You're like a kirin yourself. Where I'm from the only one who can travel between worlds freely is a kirin.

[He'd smile back, but he can't do so properly in this form.]

That too. And I'd attract a lot of attention, I'd imagine. Oh... Well. I'm in the position known as the Taiho. I advise the king who rules this land. Where we are right now is my kingdom. It's called En.

[obliviomancy]

Yeah, well, I'd look pretty funny with a horn.

[ That's an interesting thought to have with the open lands and the vague scent of the sea curling in the wind. ]

I think you told me about him before. I didn't know kingdoms looked like this, though.

[kirinofen]

I'll say. I'd look funny with a horn in my human form too.

[He nods and lifts his head to survey the landscape.]

Yeah. He's in the city, actually. I haven't seen him much lately though. [He chuckles.] Not all the kingdoms are this green. Some are in pretty bad shape. En is one of the lucky ones.

But at least he's around, right?

[ starting to walk, slowly- he wants to see as much of it as he can. ]

What happened to the other ones?

[kirinofen]

[He snorts at that.] Sometimes I wonder if that's a good thing.

[He follows after you, 'cause this is his dream after all.]

They don't have rulers. When there isn't a ruler on the throne then the land suffers a lot of youma attacks and natural disasters. That and... sometimes the rulers are corrupt and destroy their own kingdom.
