We were just perusing the variety of "antiques and stuff" stores up in Hillsborough proper, and happened upon this totally awesome vintage German clock for a very reasonable price. It's now on our mantle. After poking with it a bit, I found that most of the mechanism actually works, except it's missing a bit to connect the wire from the initial ticker gear (which I'm sure has some proper name that a clock-maker would know) to the rotating pendulum device. The pendulum is evidently supposed to twist really slowly... back and forth about four times a minute, it looks like. Delicate.
Anyway, it should go with the eventual steampunk plans we've been formulating for the downstairs as a whole. We're contemplating whether to strip off the remaining paint, or leave it as-is.
