Summer Travellin'
Haven't been updating here much about my recent activities mainly because my recent activities have had me in a state of perpetual catch-up when it comes to online sites, and I tend to want to finish reading everything before it occurs to me to post things. Anyway.
Weekend before last was a family reunion of my Mom's side near Mt. Hood, Oregon. Mostly fun. Did a whole bunch of hiking (one day was about 6 miles with maybe 1500 ft vertical), which I haven't done in ages, and so got plenty sore, but the views were fantastic. Unfortunately akiko isn't terribly into hiking so she was a bit bored. And then there was the time one of my uncles wouldn't shut up about something offensive until she had to leave the room to avoid clobbering him. A tad awkward. But other than that it was great! Also had some quite fun/interesting conversations with the rest of my family, anyway. And the cabins were quite nice, aside from the heat.
Last weekend was the annual COUP beach trip down in Kure Beach, which was also fun. Pretty much the same as any other COUP beach trip. Waves were high, but no major injuries that I know of, so, a success. Got pretty tipsy Saturday night on a combination of raspberry margaritas and double chocolate stout, but not so much so as to regret it.
