"Of course, you most likely know the story after that. The Shandorians won the battle, but the city still fell; their numbers had been decreased to such a small number that they could not longer sustain such a vast city."

Kaku paused for a moment and opened the folder. He shuffled through a few pages briefly, and shook his head.

"All records of the Shandorian civilization after this do not exist; they had fallen out of the historical record completely until an explorer from Lyvneel in the North Blue applied for a charter to sail to the island of Jaya on the Grand Line. He reported of a vast city of gold that was there."

At this, Kaku pulled out a particular document and passed them over to Norland.

"Here is the petition for your charter, or at least copies. When Mariejoa received the petition, they were surprised that the city still flourished in some shape or form. Knowing that people must still reside there for you to have returned with such information, they decided to investigate the matter." Kaku took a breath; here came the difficult part.

"As you've probably been told, knowledge of anything regarding the Void Century, the Poneglyphs, and related is strictly outlawed by the World Government. Disobeying this law can result in anything from incarceration in Impel Down to death."

Norland nodded slowly, his brow furrowed. He reached his hand out, taking the documents and he flipped through them, skimming over the familiar texts. He closed his eyes briefly, and then looked up at the two men across from himself.

"I'm sure it will come as no surprise to you that I was unaware that they had gone back to Jaya after I came back." Norland's eyes were more intense than before. "I do, however, know what the World Government forbids as far as that is concerned. I was not after any of that. It was merely for research purposes on my part. We did just that." He stopped for a moment. "I would have never known of the Poneglpyh had I not run into the Shandorians. Granted, I would have found it eventually."

Norland sighed deeply, looking at the documents in his hands again.

"What I want to know is, why would they allow me to sail once more, knowing this information? Why did they allow me to make a fool of the King, and thus, make a fool of myself?" Norland's tone was becoming slightly more gruff, edged with anger and confusion. "I'm sorry. Please, continue."

"You were supposed to remain unaware. The World Government considers any knowledge, even knowledge of their existence a crime. Miss Robin is also seeking only to learn the history for research, but she is still one of the most heavily sought after women on these oceans."

Sighing, Kaku pulled out a few more documents, just as official as the charters, but far more ominous.

"In order to ensure that this did not turn into a serious breach of political security, Mariejoa sent out a small contingent of their elite to investigate the matter before granting your charter. This small group of field agents are the precursor to what became Cipher Pol 9 in our times, which is why Lucci and I are aware of this information."

He handed over the records and allowed Norland to look at them for a moment before he continued.

"These are objectives and details concerning that particular mission, as well as a report concerning the team's findings. It says that they landed on Jaya nearly four years after your initial arrival, and when they arrived, they found nothing but half of a native hut. No gold, no village, nothing but an uninhabited island."

Kaku leaned forward then, and looked at Norland with an intense expression.

"Mariejoa allowed you to sail to Jaya with your king knowing that you would arrive and find nothing there. This would be viewed as an act of treason by your monarch and you would thus be sentenced to death. It was...effectively a quick and clean way to silence you."

Norland's fists were tightening more and more, slightly crinkling the documents in his hands. How could the World Government make such a mockery of him? All he ever did was explore, chart out new lands, share newfound knowledge and stories with his people. As the ginger haired man continued, Norland's anger rose immensely.

That last bit of information nearly sent him over the edge and he would almost regret being so full of anger, with the strength he possessed.

"That's enough!" With that, his fist pounded the glass top solid oak coffee table before him into a pile of refuse. "Please. Kaku-san." His voice was a tone lower than before, a slight growl emitting from his words. "I do not think I need to hear anymore." He clenched his fist, now covered in blood and broken glass. He completely ignored it, and cast his angry gaze to the ground, not wanting to take his anger out on Kaku. He was aware that it was not his fault. "It seems that I now know who my true enemy is. Not to mention the fact that they continue to destroy lives even in this day and age!"

Norland sighed deeply, closing his eyes.

"I'm sorry." Norland placed his other hand over his face. "Please forgive me, I let my anger get the best of me."

His expression simmered slightly and he exhaled.
"If I continue to exist in this era..." He paused for a moment. "I will be prepared to do what it takes to uncover the void history. To vindicate those who have died at the greedy murderous hands of the World Government, who only sought to gain knowledge. That was no reason for them to die!" His brow was set, and his expression changed with unfathomed determination. "I will not sit idly and watch Nico Robin die for her cause. I will not let them lay a hand on my dearest nakama Calgara!"

Kaku regarded Norland's outburst calmly, though he found himself a bit surprised at the strength he possessed. He closed the file folder that he held, and passed it over the pile of splintered wood and glass to him.

"I have no need for these documents. They are yours now, and you can do with them as you please, Mr. Norland. Just be warned that the World Government, while corrupt, is still a force to be reckoned with. Once they realize that you are seeking out the Poneglyphs just as Miss Robin and Mr. Calgara are, you will most likely be just as wanted as the rest of us."

Frankly, Kaku did not blame Norland for his anger, but he was surprised to see such a calm man as him explode like that.
