Crazy Monday afternoon.

Basically, I was running late all afternoon on Monday. My mom watched the kids in the morning so I could volunteer at High Hopes. Well, I didn't tell her to keep the kids up so she put them down for nap at noon. I have no idea why she waited so long if she was going to put them down for a nap when she knows I am supposed to leave my house at 1, but whatever. So yeah I didn't want to wake them up so I was doing some other stuff and waiting for them to maybe wake up on their own when I suddenly realized it was 1:40!!! The kids were screaming and crying when I put them in the car. I called work and asked to park in the back next to my bus. Got there and in the bus by 2:00, it takes about 8 minutes to get to the school. So I got there AFTER the kids got out and I was the second to last in line. The only reason I wasn't THE last was because someone who had called out in the morning and said she would be there just didn't show up...And they realized it after I left the lot. Anyways, by some miracle I managed not to get caught in EB's thousands of people walking to thier car "rush." Only to get stuck on this piece of highway on my way to the middle school because there was a three car crash blocking almost all the lanes! I got to the middle school right before they let the buses leave. Well, the crash was right next to the first kid's house. I had no choice I had to go back into the backedup traffic. It took me 15 minutes from when I dropped that kid off to my next stop when usually it takes me 3-5 minutes. So by now I am twenty minutes behind. At the time I am usually empty and on my way to the elementary school, I still had a FULL bus of kids! So I finally got to the elementary school to pickup my students and someone comes over the radio and announces, "there is an accident in front of Burger King, they have it down to one lane." Great, right in the middle of my route and I will have to go past it twice. There is no way I was going to make it to my late run before 4:15 let alone 3:55 like they want me to. So I called base and told them I hadn't even dropped any of my elementary kids off yet, so maybe they wanted to find someone who could get there before me? So someone else did my late run. But it was just rediculous. Accidents and traffic jams all over the place. Glad I made it home in one piece.
