So...Sci-Fi on the Rock is this coming Saturday and Sunday. (Our local geek convention.) I'll be there both days. Meaning I need two costumes.
Given that I'm there with the Anime Society, one of the two must be an anime costume. I'm currently planning on finishing the pink outfit from the second Card Captor Sakura movie. This, I think, is what I'll wear on Sunday, when I do the Costuming 202: Beyond Basics workshop. It's entirely done from scratch, without a pattern. Thus, suitable all around.
Saturday's costume is still up in the air. I have a few options, but I'm not overly content with any of them. I'm looking for something that qualifies as a few things. I'd like it to be a sci-fi costume, I'd like it to be simple to pull together (not a lot of sewing skills required - Saturday is Costuming 101: The Basics, and I'd like to prove that a good costume can be easy), and I don't have a huge budget. Well, really, I don't want to have any budget. So, we've got:
Tsubasa:Tokyo Revelations Sakura - older Sakura goes badass, with a revolver. Vaguely Sci-fi. Mostly buy-and-wear. Requires buying.
Danny Phantom Sam - I have the haircut, if not the color. Also the purple tights. Also vaguely Sci-Fi, buy-and-wear. Requires buying.
Lemon Angel Project Fuyumi - an orange dress that I have about 1/2 done. Set in 2010 with some interesting tech, but not sci-fi at all, really. Once again, this is a from-scratch costume. Requires major fabrication, and I need to buy lining, and find/make/buy a petticoat.
Opinions? Suggestions? I would really like to do a Sci-Fi character, but I can't think of one with short brown hair. And I don't own any wigs.
