I'm alive! It's good to be alive! XD
Ummmm... Tuesday, right after work I totalled my car. Mwehh! I was going around a curve at, like 30 in a 45 zone, my car slid on the slushy, icy road and into the other lane.... went strait instead of turning. Hit another car going the other way head-on. BOOM! Smash and airbag went off and spun around and by back end hit the guardrail. It happened so fast that I must have blanked for a few seconds because the next thing I knew I was staring at the deflated airbag and my winter hat was in the corner of the dashboard. Sat there in shock for awhile, was probably 30 secs, but felt more like 5 mins. Lots of people had stopped and someone was walking towards my car. I managed to open my door and get out.
Someone called 911 and I kind of just stood there and was all blank and probably in shock. The police came and an ambulance and fire trucks. I was checked over by the EMTs and just had a ton of bruises on my neck and chest and my knees were scraped and banged up from hitting the dash. The other woman's air bag didn't go off and she might have had a broken ankle. They had to pry her door off because it was bent shut. I called Aaron and Ari to come pick me up and AAA to tow my car to the dealership. I didn't know where else to take it.
Lots more stuff happened, like talking to the cop and waiting in the back of a fire truck to stay warm while waiting for the tow truck. I couldn't stop shaking all night. While there, we heard about, like, four more accidents on the scanner. And twenty minutes before mine, a girl had gone over a small ravine on a windy back road nearby that I use sometimes. About twenty minutes after my wreck... the plow and salt trucks came by. Aaron and Ari cleared out my car while I was huddled in the back of the fire truck. <3 you guys.
But I'm mostly ok. Just tons of bruises that hurt. Called a bunch of family members after I got home yesterday my phone was ringing every fifteen minutes from 9:30 to noon with different people needing information. I just hope my insurance covers the damages and lets me know soon the price range they'll cover for another car. I just got mine last March and still owe about $12,000 on it. Aaron was super nice and took yesterday off work to take me to get a rental. I have it till Sat morning... so three days and it's $45 a day. AAA gave me a 10% discount on it. I just hope the claim stuff is taken care of fast so I can get a new one this weekend or early next week. I can't really afford to be spending a lot on a rental for much longer than that.
I nearly had a heart attack this morning when I walked outside. Snow. On the ground. My rental is a big Kia thing that's just a step down from a SUV. I still drove slow.... being very careful with it. Went 40 on the highways and 20-30 on the smaller roads. Tons of people passed me, but like I cared. My knuckles were probably white while I slowed way down on every turn. I passed the place where I crashed going about 20 and pretty much drove extra cautiously like an old lady. Better really safe than sorry right now though. I was hyper-aware of where all the cars near me were at at all times. Adrenaline will keep you awake amazingly well.
I actually ate something last night. three little soft tacos and a wine cooler. I'd hardly eaten anything since lunch the day before. Wasn't hungry. Guess my body was trying to repair all the damage instead of diverting blood to my stomach. Man, I have a nasty seatbelt bruise all the way across my chest, but it could have been a lot worse and I'm super happy I could walk away from it. Yeah for pally-bubbles or something like that. XD
I'm back at work oday, so I should go do some. Everyone drive safe! <3
Edit: ... my right breast is now 1/3 deep purple from the seatbelt. Ouchies. I think it swelled by a cup size. Knees are also still a bit swollen and sore.. neck hurts... I'm going to bed early tonight.
