I got back home today after spending the weekend at my parent's. One of my sisters, Yas, had a baby shower on Saturday. The one who never talks to the family unless she needs something.

So, I get there and find out Z had canceled all the food two days before because she was broke and dumped it all on my mom. My mom's a wonderful person and she made sloppy joes and fruit salad and got plates, napkins, cups, and stuff too.

Z also dumped all the shower games on my sis Melissa the night before the shower. So while she was at her Master's class Sat morning, she made a bunch of printouts of party games. While we were stapling the packets together a couple hours before the shower, she said Yas should have asked the responsible sisters to do that stuff in the first place. Heh. We found out later that Z and Yas had a conversation where Z sweared us all out because she didn't want anyone else to help with anything. Who did she think would take care of stuff when she dropped it? Gah ><

So Crystal, Melissa, my mom, and I get to the shower and it's mostly set up and decorated already. We set up the food and shower prizes (that my mom and Melissa provided) for the games and stuff. I gets closer to 2. Like ten minutes till and no one's there except us, my grandma, and a couple of Yas's friends. There's supposed to be 70ish people there. Right at 2, a few more friends of Yas's show up and about 30-40 Mennonites. It turns out they're Yas's boyfriend's family.

And... we talked to Yas's friend who organized a lot of it, that except for us and grandma, none of the rest of our family had been invited. O.o It was just... weird, you know?

The whole party was awkward and full of disaster-waiting-to-happen. No one knew anyone else and you could just feel the tension and obligation in the air. No one really wanted to be there. And Z and Yas never spoke a word to anyone outside their little huddle unless someone said something to them first.

Z did order and buy a beautiful jelly-filled cake from Walmart for $50. We know this because she repeatedly told everyone about it. It was a yummy cake, and it was a huge sheet cake... and 3/4 of it was left after the party to get cut up and distributed. She couldn't buy sandwiches?

Nothing started until 2:30 and they only had the place rented for two hours. There was so much time wasted doing nothing, and the twenty minutes they were cooing over the cake, when they should have been opening the presents or doing more of the games. It was a mess.

Then we helped clean up and tear the decorations down. The boyfriend's mom and a couple other people helped us with this. Yas and Z didn't help and didn't thank anyone for anything. The whole thing was horrible.

I don't much care if they talk to us anymore or not. And that's a terrible thing for me to say. Just... grrrrr argggg!! >_<

I really think she just found some guy to knock her up who would take care of her. He seemed like a nice guy, just a bit scatter-brained and he sometimes had that trapped deer-in-headlights look of wtf did I get into?
