Visited my family again over the weekend. I saw Matt's Beauty and the Beast play in the theater for the second time. This time I paid more attention to the extras than the main characters. They did some really wonderful choreography and I really enjoyed it. I sat a lot closer this time, sixth row instead of way in the back, so I could see everyone's faces and expressions a lot better. It was worth it.

On Sunday we went to a little Methodist church instead of the usual one. My mom was singing with a group that she was part of in high school. It was a 35-year reunion thing. Their singing was pretty good and they had some gorgeous solo pieces. They had a guest speaker and the sermon was about not judging others and respecting everyone. Some parts of it though were... condescending, I suppose. It made me twitch and want to start a debate on what 'hypocrite' means.

This kind of sermonizing is why I only go to my home church when I'm visiting my family for the weekend and haven't bothered to find one in this area. Those kinds of things are so common in churches that I get really frustrated with it. Because I am a Christian. And I can't stand the ultra-conservative Christian groups. They're a bunch of bigoted, ego-driven assholes. They think that only their opinion is the correct one and everyone else is gonna burn in hell. GRRRR ARGHHHH..... Just... I could rant for a long time, but I won't. I just fume about it sometimes.

Heh heh. Two hundred years ago I would've been burned at the stake. Because I think all the major religions are valid and have found a little part of the whole truth. It just gets so distorted when people start adding their own rules and think their way is superior. They all boil down to the same thing. God is love. Love one another. So why do they all need to hate each other? *tears hair out*

rant, church, beauty and the beast, matt
