So. What is updating?
Quick rundown of the summer:
- Professional kitchen work is not for me, and as much as I love everyone who works at the Gulu, I had no previous training and couldn't keep up with it, so I left.
- My step-sister is the worst roommate ever and completely screwed over my summer finances while I was job-hunting, only paying half of the very low rent she owed me during the actual summer. It took until now for me to get the rest of it.
- Job hunting in the summer sucks. See: temporary part-time stint working at a comics shop for the least organized and professional business owner ever.
- My mother is still bugging me to start dating but pssshhhhh
- Bedbugs came back, and were quickly dealt with. Forever. Landlord picked up the bill, as is law for the state.
But! I have Mori and Georgia living with me now, I have a job! Hours fluctuate between full and part-time depending on need, but I'm the office manager/admin assistant/database assistant/business photographer/researcher and blogger for a local painting restoration business down the street. Tons of opportunity to learn, it's in the art field (you have no idea how competitive for ANY job it is), and room to grow and eventually get in as an apprentice restorer/framer. I'm also applying around for volunteer work at museums and in Boston, and trying to find a useful editorial/publishing or design internship that doesn't run during my work hours.
Of course, I've had the worst winter flu all week long, but whatever.
