Too much Todoesday!

I did another Heartsy feature, and it went pretty well. Not as gangbusters as the first time, but that time I was the only shop featured, and now there are a billion shops featured all at once. I still made some decent extra money for my vacation, so I can't complain about that. And they decided to extend it another day so if you want some inexpensive prints, get 'em now! http://heartsy.me/shops/4513-kiri-moth

So I've had a lot of extra Etsy orders to fill this week, on top of regular work and the illustration and I need to finish up. And then I got the reminder from the State Equalization Board that I need to file my sales taxes by the 31st. *head desk* Sales taxes are slightly more of a bitch to deal with than regular taxes, because it doesn't coincide with the regular tax year. And I have to break down all the payments I've taken from California residents by county and figure out what the tax rate for each county is. California has lots and lots of counties. It's not normally such a big deal, but I'd already budgeted just about all of my time for the rest of the month, and I don't know where I'm going to find the extra couple days for taxes. Might see if I can file an extension this year. :P

I was emailed today by RAW Artists who saw my portfolio on Behance and wanted to know if I'd like to participate in an exhibit in a local gallery. I had to say no to the upcoming show, since it's during my vacation, but there's another coming up in September that I could do. It's at a well known gallery, and the group looks legit. They require either a $200 fee or that you 'sell' 20 $10 tickets to the show, in lieu of taking any commission on pieces that you sell. Almost all shows charge some kind of entry or hanging fee or take a commission, or both, so I don't think that's a dealbreaker, but I still have to think about it. It looks like they also put a lot of effort into promoting the artists and the show, so it might be worthwhile. I need to research it a bit more, but it's very interesting.

Some art! I finished the color mockup for my piece with the dude and the dragon in the swamp. He needs a name, because it's really not Kyle the Dragon Slapper.

And finally, music. I've been listening to Foster the People nonstop. Torches is definitely my summer jam album. I have a hard time picking a favorite song, but this is one of my top five:

(Possible violence warning for the video, if that bothers you? It's very Mad Max meets Lord of the Flies)
