Finished the inking on the dragon puppeteer piece, and I'm working my way through the coloring. I'm trying out a slightly different style - I didn't want to do flat cel shading, so I'm mixing up the cel shading with some painterly brush strokes. We'll see how that works.

Possibly I'll have the color done by the end of the week? I'm about 1/3 of the way through and it's been going fast, so it's not unlikely.
Also! An image dump of some flower photos. I draw a lot of flowers, so I take a lot of photos for references. Feel free to use any of these for drawing refs if you are so inclined. One bunch is from a visit to the historic
Filoli Estate back in April, the other is from just this past weekend at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens. It's always worth going there several times a year to see the different varieties of flowers throughout our year-round blooming season.

SF Botanical Gardens, June 2011 And after going out and taking snapshots this weekend, I was reminded that for a simple point-and-shoot, my camera actually takes pretty solid photos. I'm probably just going to stick with it for a while longer.
This was one of my favorite pictures from the Botanical Gardens. It was around 5:30pm, so the sun was lower (we have sunset around 8:30 during the early summer here) and I love the bokeh effect in the background. I don't know how to create or capture that intentionally - the camera was set on full auto, and I didn't do any post processing on the image.
