So I'm finally making some money. Too much, even. Go figure. I spent a lot of Tuesday and about half of today pulling up carpet with my brother. My Oma decided quite a while ago that she wanted to use the wooden floor below her carpet...my uncle was supposed to do it at some point. Being ever so reliable as he is, we volunteered to do it this summer so she wouldn't have to wait another year or two. In return she decided to pay us what she was going to pay him: $500. It's way too much for ten or so hours of work, but she wouldn't listen to our arguments. And we did actually try. *shrugs* It'll go to a good cause and we're the better half of her grandchildren anyway. Ha ha.
The work wasn't bad, but my back is sore now. I blame it more on a lack of sleep than the actual work. I hate it when I can't sleep. It doesn't happen often, but it stresses me out when it does cuz it's usually a mind-racing thing during which I convince myself that not being able to sleep is going to ruin the next day.
But anyway, good news and bad news for the rest of the summer. First, completely good news...I'm going to Chambana this weekend! Yay! I'm going to get there Friday night and stick around until Monday morning. I can't wait to see Andy! :D Somewhat unfortunately, this comes on the heels of the other good news/bad news, which is that I got a job. My friend Nichole works at the Renaissance Faire in Wisconsin at a shop that sells leather hats, belts, etc. and they're short. So I get to dress up and sell stuff and, with any luck, I'll have some fun and make some good money. The biggest downside is that it runs every weekend so I won't really get another chance this summer to see Andy and the next downside is that Faire opens the day I go on vacation, so I get to miss opening and the second weekend and only have four weekends after that to work before school. I dunno what's going to happen when school comes around. If I'm making good money and Nichole plans on driving up to work, I might go with once or twice if she can drive me (she goes to school in Peoria, so it *might* work out). I would really like to work Labor Day weekend, which is the weekend Faire closes, but of course we have classes on Labor Day. *rolls eyes*
Anyway, that will be figured out later. Working with Nichole will be a blast and I really don't even mind dressing up. I did it once and it was fun...I wouldn't make a hobby of it and hopefully I don't have to buy much of my costume (I can borrow from the store), but it's the best job I coulda gotten as far as actually enjoying working goes.
I think I'm going to sleep all day tomorrow. lol. It'll make this weekend come faster. Yaay!
