The Meteor Shower

Falling Star
by Sara Teasdale
I saw a star slide down the sky
Blinding the north as it went by
Too burning and too quick to hold
Too lovely to be bought or sold
Good only to make wishes on
And then forever to be gone

I went up to the observatory last night with my roommate and some of her friends around 10:30. She brought a polar fleece blanket, so we laid out in front of the observatory (with the hoardes of Wellesley students also present). Every time a star went streaking across the sky, there were shrieks and "oohs" and "ahs."

It was one of those "glad to be alive" moments... which I was in desperate need of, considering the amount of stress I'm feeling. I think one of the reasons I'm here is to remember that sometimes Economics should be second priority to a meteor shower that won't return for 96 years.

After all, when you look up at the sky and realize the stars are billions of light years away... you gain an appreciation of how small you are. It certainly puts your problems in perspective.
