The first day of civil servitude is over with - I wasn't chosen to sit on a jury panel today, but I *almost* was. The fact that I have 2 close friends with carpal tunnel, one of which who began experiencing symptoms after an arm injury, got me off the hook. I hope I didn't look like I was copping out cheaply, but I rather felt that I was already biased even before they called me up for voir dire. I can't really erase from my mind the fact that I've seen a close friend have chronic problems with her once-injured wrist. Maybe I could have put forth more effort to SEEM impartial, despite my belief that it's damn near impossible for any human being to TRULY be 100% impartial, and let them tap me out despite my brave efforts to do my civic duty. But anyway, I got out early for the day, and don't have to come back as early tomorrow either. Woo!
I still have one more day to be in the jury pool, though. So we'll see what happens tomorrow. If I'm lucky, I won't get picked to sit on a jury and I'll be able to go back to work on Wednesday.
PS: I wore my long black skirt, burgundy blouse, with my spiky-swirly silver choker. I also brought a buttload of books and my iPod. So I was, what, gothish geek librarian?
