Pushing right along...

Phew. Glad I’m not as moody as I was when I posted last!

I made the big planning appointment with the wedding coordinator for the end of August; hopefully we can get together with the DJ then too. Also updated her on the guest count, now around 60 people. It felt good to have done SOMETHING in that arena.

I also made good cosplay progress - Hyakurin is very close to completion now; I just have finishing touches on the kimono, then I need to make the obi and one black legging. Giichi’s kimono “neck band” is next; then the hemming and appliqué. I also ordered the supplies to make weapons, but only a little fiddling with our friend’s jigsaw will tell whether it’s realistic to try carving that stuff out.

Oh, I did all this despite injury, too. DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH CRACKED POTTERY. Apparently Chuck’s favorite big bowl was cracked. I dished some macaroni alla bascaiola into it, I tried to pick it up - and it totally broke. The part I was holding snapped off in a big triangular piece, which then spun around and stabbed me right at the base of my middle finger. It LOOKED really bad, like it might need stitches, but the bleeding stopped after a few minutes. It was an angled cut, though, which exposes rather more raw flesh (and by “more” I mean something like 1/8 of an inch… oh no!) and makes it hard to bandage without dissolving the scab all the time. I bandaged it at first (even got Chuck to SPLINT it for me because bending was bad) but let it get air after a day. This, fortunately, did not interfere with my sewing or cooking. But the lesson to take away from this is to seriously toss any cracked pottery lest it give way and slice your flesh.

I had some very strange dreams this weekend too - in one, I was traveling and paying for room and board along the way by trading sexual favors, and gave away a freebie BJ to some skinny dark-haired guy who looked like he could have been cast in Revenge of the Nerds. I wasn’t going to do it, but I was intrigued by his huge… well, you get the idea.

Then I was at Otakon but for some reason was afraid to go into the BCC so I just walked around town a bunch looking for my friend Garrett. Then I finally went inside and was completely struck dumb by a totally hot and very tall Wolfwood, who I proceeded to practically pole dance on, and I asked if he wanted to have sandwiches later. And if you saw that later part of Trigun, y’all know what that means… however obscured it was. And he said yes! Apparently in my dreams I’m kind of a slut, and/or in real life I’m a little pent up.

I’m really psyched to see Josh and Kevin while I’m in LA! I’m going to have a surprising surplus of free time at this trade show since it only lasts 4 hours a day (10 AM-2 PM), so I hope to use some of that to chill with those guys, and go swimming in the pool, and whatever else there is to do.
