As far as I hear, a doula is next to useless. Better to seek out a midwife if you're very insistent on giving birth in your own home.

Oh no, we're not doing a home-birth. I'm just looking for moral support and relaxation/guidance while I'm doing a hospital birth - someone experienced who will be there the whole time, since nurses just pop in and out until it's time to deliver.

Although I am somewhat hesitant because if I end up getting a Caesarean, will all the doula stuff be for naught? They usually do some post-birth support too, but... eh.
