Work: The marketing team was in this week at work, so things have been a flurry of product samplings and sales numbers around the office. While it was frenetic, we were the recipients of positive peer pressure on our marketing manager, and the new Chief Marketing Office seems like a really progressive, open-minded fellow with a good head for business. Also, I'm not scared of him like the previous Marketing/Sales Manager, who was very old-school and dictatorial. So, I'm kind of beat now, but feel good about what went down this week.
B'con: I’ve been so out of it lately with all my business travel that I totally forgot to reg before the rate jumped! Oops. Oh well - only $10 more. Also, I haven’t been following the event’s thread much either and just found out about the ‘80s prom dance! I am so psyched to shop - Goodwill here I come! And I’m totally going to style my hair in a high side ponytail. Besides that, my room is now full so the financial burden isn’t so onerous. Good stuff all around with the B’con plans!
Chuck: got his first paycheck yesterday. Halle-frickin-lujah! The gigs are lining up for him with the chiropractic office’s events and such, so even though it means he’s out driving a bunch at least he’s making some decent money and finding happiness in being useful. Go Chuck!
Otakon: the FMA cosplay we were planning with our friends from VA is officially off - my pal Jenn was going to be making at least 4 State Alchemist uniforms as well as Al’s full suit of armor (with runes) AND most of Barry the Chopper’s armor, and she hadn’t even started yet. So, no surprise that that’s called off/ postponed - not only is it expensive resource-wise, but it’s super time-intensive for ONE person to pull off virtually unassisted, especially with no armor experience. Woman’s gotta get real and start planning better! I’m still probably going to play around making Barry’s mask, though, just for the experience. Now the group is planning on a Naruto cosplay because one of the group is bringing his 10-year-old nephew along this year, and he’s a huge fan of the series. Aw, cuteness! What chick could I be? I’m leaning towards Kurenai. I'm hoping to convince Chuck to grow in a little beardage and do Asuma.
Other stuff: I keep looking at online listings for houses to buy in Green Bay. Housing prices are ridiculously less expensive here than in Southern New England. Of course, the cheapest options are foreclosures being sold as-is by banks. Honestly I'm getting tempted by the prospect of ownership at a reasonable price - and also the chance to mess around redecorating a place I call my own.
