The Shambles, to be precise. Last night (Thursday), The Shambles went Live at Gasworks. I was halfway through the show when I realised I was having fun. The boys and their skits were mostly very funny, the crowd was hyped, and the crew I'm working with are fantastic and fun. And I didn't screw up my microphone or CD sound cues too badly ( Read more... )

That's a pretty funny story. I've heard of Diane Sawyer (when you've heard of a newscaster from another country, you know they're at least moderately famous), although I wouldn't really know what she looks like.

I've heard stories like that before, and it's always amusing. I suppose that as an actor (or other person who receives lots of press) who gets a lot of attention, you'd start to automatically think people were talking to you in that situation, because a lot of the time, they would be. But ITA, a very good story about "fame" indeed...

I've heard that Jamie Denton (I've never been able to think of him as "James" since tP!) is very generous with his time, both with his fans and with charitable organisations. And I agree that when actors make themselves available to their fans through interviews, personal apprearances, letters, etc; it certainly incurs goodwill with fans because then the fans aren't just responding to how they feel about your character on a single show, but they get a feel for you as a person... and yes, they start to appreciate the person's skill as an actor (rather than perhaps perceiving them as the character they portray) and, I believe, can become more interested in the actor's career as a whole, leading to the creation of a fanbase that will follow your career from that time on.
