-It's the most wonderful time of the year...
-Ignore that previous blurb. The fact that it's Christmas has little do to with why I'm updating this journal. The reason behind this atypical act is that I don't want to lose my journal. In order to not lose my journal, I have to use it every once in a while. I keep therefore I update. Occasionally. QED.
-Ah. Christmas time. For some reason I get kinda depressed around this time of year. I really don't know why. Actually, I could probably think of a few reasons if I tried really hard, but, hey, why dwell on the negative?
-Last night was the festival of lessons and carols at trinity. The festival of lessons and carols is a tradition at my old school where all school children, well, read lessons and sing carols in a formal church service. Anyway, part of the tradition is that all the old alumni attend in order to fight sleep in the back pews. I, being the faithful alumnus that I am, decided to go (It's not like I had nothing else to do. Oh wait. That's right. I'm a liar.) Anways, after fighting sleep for an hour, I decided to participate in a tradition unique to our class: every year, after fighting sleep for an hour, we all head back to Cannon's for a dinner/ grammar school class reunion thingy. There I get to see all the people who wouldn't say "hi" to me on the street. Actually, last night wasn't terribly bad. It probably would have been highly enjoyable if Adam Seip hadn't been following me around the entire evening. Not that I have anything against Adam. It's just that, well, he's Adam. For those of you who don't know him, imagine the kind of person who goes to Fun Arcade alone. That's right, alone. 'Nuff said.
-The joy of college application. Man, right now I'm not even sure I wanna go to college. Writing the Princeton essays is a lot of work for a college which'll probably send back an extremely thin envelope.
-Oh yeah. I almost forgot. Thursday morning I got into an auto accident. Basically, I was driving down Broadway when the car in front of me, without signaling or slowing down, starts a right turn. No problem. I compensate by going slightly to the left. Suddenly, however, they start to turn left. It was the most fucked up turn I have ever seen. Anyway, I couldn't brake in time, and I sideswiped him. I then proceeded to yell out a stream of curse words at the driver of other vehicle, who turned out to be a tulane student. Now what, pray tell, would a college student and his friend be doing at 6 in the morning? My two best guesses would be coming home from a long study session, or coming home from a long night of drinking? The slight stagger in his step suggested the latter. His offer to trade information on the spot seemed to confirm it. I should've called the police. Instead, I called my mom (so she could give my little brother a ride to school). What does she do? She offers to trade info. So, yeah. I'm slightly peeved.
