-It's the most wonderful time of the year. With the sun blazing day on the sweltering ground, I'll be in good cheer...
-Actually, I don't mind summer's weather. It's actually kind of nice. It's warm enough for swimming, and it rains a lot (I like thunderstorms. I think they're pretty.) I don't even mind the temperature; heat, or the lack of heat, has never really bothered me. No, the main problem that I have with the hot weather is that it makes me apathetic. And, for those of you who know me, apathy is something I need a lot less of.
-Actually, summer, in many ways, sucks. I don't know why, but whenever I got a chunk of freet time, I get... well, the image that I always get is that of a horse chomping at the bit to do something, but not actually knowing what it wants to do. If that makes any sense. My guess is its withdrawal from all the hours occupied by school plus a lot of free time to think. This free time alone leads to a kind of mild depression, which is not really the word I'm looking for. More like an overly tense calm, which, instead of being followed by a storm, is followed by more calm. If that makes any sense.
-Enough bitching about summer/really bad imagery. On to random observations, details, and insights.
-I had a very... democratic night last night. Saw Undercover Brother with Alex, Joey, and David. Then someone had the brilliant idea of watching Shaft, which was good (but not as good as Black Belt Jones).
-Jazz songs have such cool names. "Clarinet Marmelade." "Sing Sing Sing with a Swing." "So what." "Some Skunk Funk."
-After watching all those films last night, I had a sudden urge for fried chicken and a malt beverage.
-Sacred Heart's graduation. For some odd reason it struck me as a bit long. But, hey, at least it's better than Jesuit's "reach under your chair and pull out the diploma, you can write your name on it later" speed graduation.
-While on the subject of graduations, what did everyone think of E. Bisso's speech. I personally found it fascinating. If by fascinating you mean boring, cluttered, etc. I wonder who thought of having the person with the highest grade average give a speech at graduation. The person with the best GPA is probably not the best person to write a speech, let alone deliver it. I mean, why not have someone like the best speaker in the class give a speech... oh, right. That would make sense. Nevermind.
-There have been no really good quotes this summer. You people really need to step up.
