Ah, long time no update again. So what's been happening lately? Well, the semester's winding down, and I only have two assignments left, one of which is already half finished. Work is the same as always; still no luck on the library front, but I've got a plan of action there (though it might take some time for it to come to fruition).
bard_linn and I have been watching Princess Tutu lately, and it's utterly adorable. Other than that, fandom-wise, she's been getting me more and more into old CLAMP series (Wish is adorable, and the child of Satan is creepily reminiscent of Fuuma, or vice versa, and also English needs universally accepted gender-neutral pronouns dammit). She also gave me a Japanese-language copy of Clamp School Detectives, which I'm sure will be a lot of fun to play with further down the line... but right now I'm reading RG Veda, and though I'm only halfway through I love it. Might help that it's got a lot of similar story elements to X, but its own merits are great too -- Ashura is adorable, and Yasha's devotion to him is so sweet, and Kujaku is amusing, and Ryuu is awesome, and I love love love the whole Kendappa/Souma thing. (stfu, I know it ends badly but I'M IGNORING THAT FOR NOW.)
And though I know it's gonna be hugely different it makes me want to read the Rig Veda. I'm sure the experience of reading this series would be enhanced if I were a little more familiar with Hindu scriptures, and it's been a long time since I've read the Mahabharata or the Ramayana, and neither of those are Vedic scriptures so they're not really related that closely anyway.
Also the thing that sucks about getting into old fandoms is the general lack of icons. Sigh.
ETA: Seriously. (Black) wings, purple eyes, "the ability to manipulate both evil and heavenly stars"... I want to play with a Kujaku-/Kamui/ connection so much.
