Nino groaned as he woke up feeling slightly ill. He buried his nose in the cushions that Jun normally slept on and sighed as he chased the scent of his Alpha and lover. He felt as if it was already too faint and that Jun should already come back. He sighed and turned to his side, pulling his legs up a bit more as he took deep breaths, as he fought the feeling of wanting to throw up. He missed his Alpha so so much. And Jun had only left two days ago. Four more until Jun would be back from his work trip, and Nino was not sure if he would be able to make it.
Which in itself was slightly strange. Of course, he easily missed his mate. Especially when Jun was gone for longer than a day or if Nino had to spend the night in a hotel where all smells were just wrong to him. But two days and this kind of missing were a bit much. Also, it would still be a while until he would go into heat so it couldn’t be that.
He wrinkled his nose at the thought of that and turned on the bed again, pulling the sheets over his head, his nose buried even deeper in Jun’s cushions as he used the scent of him to soothe him and nausea slowly went away as he fell to sleep again. Ohno had promised to come over to keep him company before they both would go to the agency but that would be in the afternoon, until then Nino could just sleep and rest until he felt better.
Xx
Nino woke again an hour later, still feeling a bit nauseous but way better than earlier. He rolled out of bed, not quite ready to start the day but knowing better than going to sleep again, as he headed for the kitchen to prepare a cup of delicious coffee. But the second he opened the package of fresh coffee beans the scent made him almost throw up, as he quickly put it away and turned around.
He frowned deeply as those were his favourites normally and poured himself a glass of Jun’s favourite, and way too expensive water. Nino stared at the floor as he emptied it in small sips, glad that it settled his stomach slowly. He took a deep breath, turning around to close the package fully and prepare a cup of instant miso soup. It was not the best but he felt as if it would do him good today and he walked over to the living room. There he settled down on the sofa, his legs pulled up as he ate his meagre breakfast.
Not sure what to do Nino contemplated calling Ohno to cancel their meet-up but at the same time he wanted their pack leader there. The strange wish of safety was in the back of his mind that only their pack-leader or his Alpha could give him. And since Jun was so far away and not reachable Ohno would be the second-best thing. Also, there was no reason to cancel work today because he felt slightly under the weather and hell if he gave Johnny even now years after the formation of Arashi any reason to think he was holding Arashi back!
After he had started to burst out in tears because of a drama, he decided that something was not okay with his emotions and he buried his face in his hands. “Probably caught a cold,” he mumbled to himself, not believing it as he got through the motions of putting on clothes to leave the house to get the one thing that would manage to calm down this oncoming feeling of dread.
Xx
“No, it can’t be, there has to be a mistake,” Nino whispered as he run from side to side in his shared living room with Jun. He pulled at his hair, hissing at the slight pain he felt when he pulled too hard and let go to take deep breaths. He had no idea what he should do now.
His Omega brain told him to hide, to protect himself and everything dear to him. His logical brain told him to have a professional check up on him to make sure it was true, but the thought of having a doctor prodding him while he was alone was horrible at the same time. A small whine tore itself from his throat without him wanting to do and he tried to take another deep breath to calm down his beating heart.
He had no idea what he should do? What was the smartest decision? He could call Jun, of course, but he feared what his Alpha would do. He could call his mother, he supposed that his mother would know what was happening now and what to do but talking with anybody else than his Alpha or their pack leader was also wrong.
Oh God, Satoshi. Satoshi was going to kill him, no other chance. He would tear him and Jun apart, and no that couldn’t happen. Not ever! He needed to run away to hide, to protect. Again Nino forced himself to still his steps to close his eyes and take deep breaths. He needed Jun, right now. He knew his Alpha would be the best to help him keep calm, to think more clearly but Jun was unreachable right now.
Work had made him leave Nino for a few days and he was not even in a stupid hotel in Tokyo Nino could slip in or in Japan even so that Nino could call him. He knew Jun would cancel everything if he did and thought Nino honestly needed his presence.
But Jun was all out in the stupid US, and his Alpha had been so stupidly happy and excited that Nino had pouted and told him he didn’t need an Alpha like that who couldn’t shut up. He regretted it now especially since he had stupidly denied any goodbye kisses still in his pouty mood that Jun had told him was overreacting. Nino knew that Jun had for a second thought about using his Alpha powers to make Nino obey to a proper send-off, and he was thankful that he hadn’t done it.
“Stupid Alpha,” he grumbled now though. Jun was supposed to realise changes! He pouted and fell to the sofa with crossed arms, choosing to ignore that the scent cancelling soap with the Alpha scented body spray he used would have made it impossible.
He sighed and stared at the ceiling, his anger at Jun had at least for a moment stopped his worries. His eyes fell to the small strip again, not knowing what to do with it.
He rubbed his face and pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes, trying to keep calm with deep breathes again. Anxiety would not help this situation at all but make everything worse. So he just needed to calm down. He could do this, he could fake that everything was normal.
God, everything was normal! Maybe he wouldn’t even keep it. A violent shudder went through his body at the thought of losing it now that he knew that it was there. Nino was not sure if he would be able to live with that. Maybe the stress already killed it? Or the thought of maybe it was in the way? He heaved and pressed his lips close as he tried to not throw up.
Deep breaths through his nose did the trick after a few more minutes again and he closed his eyes. If he was like this already he had no idea what would happen in future. He knew in the back of his mind that it would be easier with everybody knowing and knowing what the future would bring, but he couldn’t stop the voice deep inside that told him that everybody would be angry and make him go rid of it. His biggest fear would be his mate and him hating what had happened, not even realising that Jun was a big and important part of why he was in that condition right now, more so than Nino even.
He succumbed to his tears as his mind started to imagine the bad things that could happen and he pulled a blanket over his head, rolling up in a fetal position as he lost the fight against his unconscious stupidly pessimistic brain.
Xx
Ohno knew something was up the moment he got ready to meet up with Nino as he had promised Jun and Nino. Nino because they had wanted to play a game and Jun of course, because Jun was always worried about his Omega if he had to leave for a few days. Normally all of them took turns to keep Nino company depending on how long it was and who had the most time.
This time it was up to Ohno though and the closer he came to their apartment, the more he was sure that it was the best decision they had ever made. Something was not right with the Omega of his pack and he would make sure to find out what it was.
He calmly paid the driver as he stepped out of the cab, knowing that if he was agitated, Nino would realise and that was never a good thing.
Ohno didn’t even bother to ring the bell as he looked for the copy of keys he had, and let himself in. The distress radiating off the Omega was so thick in the apartment that for a second Ohno stumbled back. It was seldom if not never that Nino was like that. Ohno could count those times on one hand if he tried really hard, and most were from the time when they just had started and come into the kind of pack they were now.
But there was an underlying scent, mixing with the usual scent of Nino and Jun that combined with the rest made very clear what was up.
Ohno cleared his throat as he stepped into the living room, careful to put his feet down a bit harder so that Nino could hear him coming, the last he wanted was to frighten the younger man that now that Ohno’s eyes fell on him reminded him a lot to the vulnerable puppy back in Hawaii. He chuckled softly at that memory and how much it had changed since then. He came back to the present when Nino whimpered finally peeking out from under the blanket where he had hidden.
Ohno could clearly see that he was observing him very carefully and with a certain protective stance that was unusual for Nino but not surprising considering the hunch Ohno had.
Ohno lifted his hands to appear non-threatening to the Omega and knelt in front of the sofa. “Nino, calm down. I am not here to harm you.”
Nino stared at him with big eyes and it took longer than Ohno would have thought, and he only succeeded when he forced Nino to meet his eyes and let his Alpha pheromones flow freely until he felt Nino’s breathing slow down and could hear how the frantic heartbeat also calmed down.
“Leader, I…” Nino said, silent and clearly exhausted. Ohno had no idea how long Nino had been like that but it was clear that he needed rest now.
“Shh, we talk later,” he said, still forcefully calm. He put his palm against Nino's forehead and cheeks relieved that his temperature was normal. “Nothing bad will happen.”
“But…”
Ohno shook his head and put his finger against his lips. “No, you will calm down now and rest,” he ordered, and even if Nino was unhappy he didn’t dare to complain, partly because he knew that Ohno was right. As he finally fell back to sleep Ohno sighed and sat back for a second, closing his eyes.
He looked at the two lines on the pregnancy test that was still very prominent on the table together with two others and then stood with a frown. Jun would have to explain himself for not taking proper precautions but that would be done when Nino was nowhere close.
“Tea and some food,” he muttered to himself, leaving Nino alone after making sure he was covered by a blanket and comfortable. He hummed to himself, thinking back at what his sister enjoyed when she was pregnant and not feeling well. As always the fridge was well stocked and he did his best to recreate the recipe from his mother, which would have been much easier if he could call her, but he felt that it was wrong to do so without Nino’s consent.
After an hour Ohno went back to wake Nino up, presenting him with a cup of ginger tea the moment the younger man opened his eyes with a wrinkled nose. “Drink that, you’ll feel better, promise.”
Nino was watching him guarded as he took the cup with a small thanks and drank from it, relaxing as he tasted the ginger and sighed. “I’m sorry leader.”
“What for? For not calling me?”
“For…” Nino stopped and motioned in the direction of the tests and Ohno clicked his tongue.
“You don’t need to apologise for that,” he explained and patted his knee. “But I would have liked to be informed before you started to work yourself up so much.”
Nino looked down with a small pout on his lips and slightly rosy cheeks. “I was scared.”
“Of me?” Ohno observed him quietly, trying not to feel hurt about that. He would never want one of his pack members to be hurt, least of all their Omega.
“Yes… no… partly,” Nino stuttered and drew his brows together. It was still hard for him to think clearly. It felt as if there was a fog over his mind which felt awful. “You’re… Our Alpha. And Jun… J should know first, right? And Johnny, and Arashi and…” he started babbling again but Ohno shook his head as he pulled Nino off the sofa and into his arms, patting his head as he had done when Nino, as an Omega, still had been young and scared and fearful of everything.
“It doesn’t matter who you tell first,” Ohno reminded him. Sure he understood the wish to tell Jun first as his mate, but it didn’t matter since Jun was not here. “And you don’t need to worry about Johnny. He can’t do anything.”
Nino bit his lips as he was not sure of that. Johnny could force them to split up or for sure other horrible things. But it was hard to not feel at ease with Ohno’s protective arms around him. Ohno was very careful as to not come close to his belly in any way and Nino felt a new surge of affection and love for their leader. They had chosen the best. Ohno was calm and never reacted harshly. How could he have forgotten that?
“I am still scared,” Nino whispered after a few moments and closed his eyes. “About how J will react, how the others will think about me, what about the public? I don’t want to lose everything,” he whispered. Yes, it sucked to hide his Omega self day in day out, especially now that he mostly felt comfortable in himself, but he enjoyed the work, dancing, singing and acting was fun. He loved the more complicated roles he finally got, the action roles were fun now and then even if they were a bit more stressful than he would honestly like.
“I know, but you are not alone, ne?”
“Mhm…” Nino said with a sigh. “I reacted really badly. I have no idea what to do now.”
“You have time to decide, preferably with Jun at least, even if of course it is your decision in the end, but I can guarantee that you won’t be able to hide your pregnancy from your mate. Not now that you know, I am surprised he didn’t realise sooner.”
“He said I smelled off,” Nino mumbled. But they both had not thought anything about it. If Nino was completely honest he had been a bit offended then even. “I thought I caught a bug or the soap…” It was not completely true. But there had been no way he would have wanted to hold Jun back because he was feeling slightly off.
“Stupid,” Ohno scolded, but it was spoken very softly and didn’t hurt as much as it should. “Do you know what you want to do?”
Nino looked at him for a second, knowing that Ohno didn’t talk about telling Jun or right now and then shook his head with a sigh.
Ohno nodded and ruffled his hair. “You still have a bit to come to a conclusion. I just want that you make sure you decide on what you feel is the best for you. Not Jun, not Arashi or anybody else that doesn’t matter.”
“I’ll try,” Nino whispered and cleared his throat. “But it does not only affect me.”
“We’ll be okay.”
Nino smiled since the words were spoken with so much certainty that he was sure that Ohno said the truth.
“But now before your mate will kill me since that will certainly bring distress to the group I will have to feed you and make sure you are okay. I already cancelled the interview scheduled for tomorrow and will stay in the guest room.”
“I don’t need supervision,” Nino grumbled but Ohno tweaked his nose and prodded his back until Nino winced and got up.
“You say that now, and I don’t care what you think you need or don’t need. You don’t get to talk back to me after I found you the way I did. If anything I will stay until Jun-kun is back and I know that you have him at your disposal. And since I don’t think you would enjoy telling the others about your little discovery.”
Nino pouted but allowed Ohno to steer him to the kitchen. “Okay, but I don’t have to like it.”
“You’re such a feisty Omega if you are not panicking,” Ohno snorted, smiling when Nino stuck out his tongue and fell on a chair when Ohno put a bowl of stew in front of him. His stomach was still in knots when he thought about work, the rest and especially Jun and he glared at Ohno’s back as he realised that it was only his presence that told the voice in his head to shut up that it was okay and they were safe.
A/N: Sorry for this…
