“Last one,” Nino said as he let the box fall to the ground. He sighed happily as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. He frowned as he looked at his dirtied hands and grimaced when he thought that that dust was now all over his face.
Ohno chuckled as he stepped into the entryway and moved forward to put a kiss on the side of his mouth. Nino’s lips twitched at the soft press of lips against the skin and closed his eyes with a sweet smile.
“Great, I paid the fee for the van already.”
Nino hummed, he had thought as much as the man had started the van as soon as Nino had taken the last box from the back. Ohno smiled brilliantly down at him as he pulled him further inside. Nino chuckled as he slipped out of his shoes and followed him up the one step there and stumbled as Ohno didn’t let go until the other fell against him. Ohno swayed them from side to side as they were finally pressed together and put his lips against his lips again and again.
“Welcome home, Kazunari,” he whispered against the lips, drawing a chuckle from the other man. Nino put his arms around his shoulders as Ohno tightened his arms around his hips, circling his waist lightly.
“I’m home,” he whispered, closing his eyes as he put his lips against Ohno’s again for a sweet kiss. Ohno smiled against his lips and opened them when Nino’s teeth teased the soft flesh about deepening the kiss.
Ohno hugged him more tightly as he pulled him further into his home until they fell together on the sofa. Ohno moved his head back to be able to look into Nino’s eyes and caressed his cheek, his fingers tapping over his soft skin, over his nose and then just a featherlight touch to his lips.
They had given each other around a year to get to know each other, to date, to get close and in general to make sure they were good together. It had been a magical year. They had slowly learnt together to live a normal life without exciting adventures almost every day, without travelling everywhere they could think of and even more. It had been bizarre at the start. It had taken long until they had found a routine again. Ohno had settled at his family home quickly with the money he had earned on his travels, and it was possible for him to slowly choose a job that he could stand and enjoy, while still having enough time for his private art.
Nino had put a website up for him where he could publish the things he made and sometimes he managed to sell the one or other piece even. Selling his art was in general very strange, mostly because they were part of him, so it was hard to separate from them, on the other hand, it was really strange that people might like the things he did so much that they even paid money for them.
Nino, on the other hand, had started to work at a small coffee shop as a barista again soon after they arrived here. He knew that it was not a job people would consider fitting for an adult, but he earned enough to pay the small rent he had and whatever else he needed to survive. The healthy amount of money he had gotten from Jun and later from Sho helped, of course.
Nino loved the job as a barista, and he liked the small smiles he would put on people’s faces when they took the first sip, how their stiff shoulders relaxed and the bright grins of the children when they got their favourite drinks. Sometimes Nino learnt more about their lives than he wanted, but it was always exciting, and he knew that he needed the change in pace. If he had no job, he would just stay at home, gaming the whole time and everything would blend in together.
Just a few months prior, Nino had gotten a notice that the rental contract of his apartment would be needed to be prolonged or he could give up on his apartment. They had talked long about the possibilities and in the end decided that the next and most logical step was for Nino to move in with Ohno into his family home, contributing to the fixed costs so that he wouldn’t feel out of place.
And here they were, finally. It felt like an ordinary long journey for them until they had reached here.
“Do you want to unpack?” Ohno drew Nino out of his musings, and Nino scrunched up his nose as he shook his head.
“Not today. I’m tired from all the heavy lifting. Not all of us are as muscular as you are,” Nino said as he made himself comfortable on top of Ohno. “I want a shower.”
Ohno pursed his lips as he nibbled on his earlobe. “I would prefer a bath together,” he offered then with a smirk.
Nino watched him for a moment before he chuckled and nodded. “Sounds good to me,” he agreed then and peppered small kisses on his lips. “Carry me!” he demanded, shrieking when Ohno didn’t even argue but just picked him up quickly to carry him to the bathroom.
-
“Come on!” Nino shouted, laughing as he pulled Ohno along the uneven ground at the park.
“Don’t rush. There is nothing we are going to miss.”
“Aren’t you curious?” Nino asked with a grin as he moved so that he could look at Ohno while still walking and tugging him along. He walked backwards, and Ohno could already sense him falling over a root or something like that as he tightened his grip.
“A little bit,” Ohno allowed after a moment. “But I’m sure it’s there.”
Nino huffed slightly, still not sure if Ohno programmed the ship they stole correctly. “You think so?”
“Yup!” Ohno grinned as he squeezed his hand. “Careful, or you’ll fall.”
“You’ll catch me,” Nino said with certainty in his voice that still surprised Ohno. He still didn’t know how Nino could put so much trust into him when he sometimes wasn’t sure he could trust himself, honestly.
“Let’s not,” he said in the end as he finally managed to pull Nino close again and against his body. They walked the last miles through the now more forest-like place in silence with Ohno checking his phone from time to time to make sure they were on the right track. He had put the coordinates in there for where the ship should appear.
Nino was not sure why Ohno decided that it had to be in the middle of the forest and not in their garden or anywhere else really. After all, the ship would blend perfectly in and only the ones knowing what to look for would realise what it was.
“Because,” Ohno mumbled with a soft smile. “This is where all this started. Where Aiba dragged me the first time.”
“Huh,” Nino said in surprise as he finally came to a stop in front of free space. Ohno put his arms around his waist, putting his chin on his shoulder. “How long?”
“Around a minute,” Ohno said as he rechecked the time. He kissed the side of his cheek, smiling warmly at Nino who smiled as well.
He Nino played with the fingers of the older man, kissing his lips for a second before a low whirring could be heard. They both looked up and at each other with bright grins. The ship slowly appeared in front of them, and Ohno loosened his hold around Nino to put his arm around his waist instead. He slowly led him to the entry of the ship and Nino put his hands against the door. His fingers were tracing the lines, before pressing his thumb against the scanner so that the door would open for them, which it did. He breathed in relief (because really, what would this ship be worth if it wouldn’t open for them?)
“Shall we name it?” Ohno asked curiously as he stepped in, looking around. The door closed seamlessly behind them, and he turned around himself with a low whistle.
The interior had changed in the year it had taken for it to appear in front of them. It had low shelves along the sides, filled with some books but much space for them to put in their knickknacks they would collect or just want to store inside. The bed was big, bigger than probably necessary for them and surrounded by wide windows, which would be beautiful to lie in and see the stars around them. The colour scheme was a mix of pastel yellow and dark blue, and it was beautiful.
“I don’t know. If you want you can do it,” Nino said with a chuckle. “It’s what Aiba did, right?”
“Yup, he said the ships are more than just things, they have a soul. Everything with a soul should have a name, right?”
“What if it has already a name?” Nino asked, clearly teasing. Ohno frowned at those words, looking around again. It didn’t seem like it had a name, he could see no writing anywhere.
He stepped closer to the console, his fingers touching the keys, and he smiled when it lightened up. “Doesn’t look like it. Or it should be written at the screen, right?”
“Mhm… Probably. We have to bring it home, though.”
“I will, first the naming though. Any ideas?”
“Something that fits us,” Nino decided with a giggle. He sat on the high railing, his feet moving slowly back and forth as he tilted his head to the side.
Ohno chuckled as he stepped closer and put his lips against Nino for a loving kiss. He just couldn’t help himself. Nino looked so free and happy and beautiful.
There was a sound coming from the machine, and both of them looked up together. Nino chuckled as there was writing on the screen suddenly. “It seemed it has decided for a name,” he commented as Ohmiya SK appeared in bold lettering.
“Yup,” Ohno agreed as he patted the cold metal. “Welcome in our family,” he said as he looked at Nino.
“Shall we go home right away?”
“Nah, it’s a time machine. How about we go for a little adventure? Just make sure we are back in time for feeding A’tuin.”
Ohno grinned as he nodded and tugged Nino down from the railing so that he stood beside him as they wrote down coordinates together. It was probably time to put something more exciting into their routine again.
THE END
A/N: Finally. Sorry if the story is awful. I’m just glad it’s finished.
