I didn't write yesterday since it was my birthday and I felt really strange during most of the day with everybody being quarantine/social distancing and everything. So I'll post two stories I had already written the next chapter for. I hope you will still enjoy this.
Miharu and Akito were buzzing around in their home in happiness as they jumped around in their house. Ohno chuckled as he looked like the children who were tugging at their father until Nino opened his eyes with a groan. It had taken a long time until Kouhei had fallen to sleep the last night and he was honestly still tired.
“Papa, up up up,” Akito said as he tugged a bit harder at the man.
“I’m up,” Nino sighed as he stroke Kouhei’s hair to keep him asleep. With a sigh, he rolled out of bed and threw Akito over his shoulder. The boy giggled as he moved his hands and arms while Nino carried him to the bathroom.
“You are very excited, huh?” he mumbled as he put him on the floor again as they were in the bathroom. He yawned slightly as he helped Akito on a small step and helped him to wash his face and teeth.
“Go to your daddy, okay? But not so loud. Daddy is in the kitchen preparing breakfast.”
“Okay, papa. Mi coming?”
“Miharu needs to wash first,” he explained as Akito hopped from the stool and he followed him to bring his daughter to the bathroom so that she could clean up. He washed himself, slowly waking up with the cold water and the excitement of his children who were soon at the table, eating the porridge with fruits that Ohno had made for them.
“Will you be okay?” Ohno asked Nino, who sighed as he nodded.
“I will be,” he mumbled with a scrunched up nose as he drank his coffee.
“You will still have Kouhei around,” Ohno said softly as he pressed his lips to his hair. “Eat.”
Nino nodded as he started on his breakfast, looking over his children. After many talks with his lover, they had decided to enrol them into kindergarten so that they would be with other children at their development stage. It would also help Nino to study and concentrate if it was not as chaotic at home as it was right now. It was still hard for Nino, though.
Ohno had taken the day off to accompany Nino and the children to the daycare so that he could be the shoulder to lean on for his little demon.
Akito and Miharu had been very excited when they told them two days ago, and Ohno holed that it would stay that way for a while longer.
After breakfast, Nino went to get Kouhei who had woken up so that he could eat while Ohno took the other two to their room to chose what they wanted to wear that day.
-
Nino sighed as he put Kouhei in the baby sling. The boy was still a bit sleepy, so he didn’t fight it but snuggled close to his father, closing his eyes again. Nino was sure that the boy would probably fall asleep against him soon.
Miharu and Akito had their bags, coats and hats that showed their status as kindergarten students, still brimming with excitement.
“Let’s go ne?” he asked them.
“Yes, papa. Hand?” Miharu asked, and he let her grab one of his hands as they left their home. Ohno was walking in front of them with Akito by his side.
Akito was talking happily about what he wanted to do at the daycare with the other children and asked many questions about it. Ohno answered the best he could, before making up a song about how to behave on the streets. Akito giggled as he listened to the song and repeated the chorus or when there was something that fit the lyrics that they needed to do. Nino shook his head in utter amusement as he talked with his little girl about what she wanted to do.
Shortly before they reached the building of the kindergarten, he stopped Akito and Ohno and looked down at Miharu.
“There is something you need to remember,” Nino said as he carefully knelt as not to wake up Kouhei. “The teacher will think that you are only my children and that daddy adopted you. Because for humans, only women can get pregnant, understand?”
“Uhn daddy,” Akito answered while Miharu nodded thoughtfully beside him.
“So if they ask about your mommy?”
“No, mommy,” Miharu mumbled as she shrugged. She didn’t need a mommy. She had her fathers and uncles, and there was nothing else that mattered to her.
Nino smiled wryly at these words. “Right. And since you will be around so many human children, I will ban your powers for as long as you are not with us.”
The children didn’t look happy but nodded as their father put his hands on top of their heads, closing his eyes to concentrate on the ban he put on his children.
“Feel funny,” Miharu said.
“No good,” Akito agreed. Nino chuckled softly as he kissed their foreheads.
“You get used to it soon,” he promised, before trying to get up again.
“Help?” he asked Ohno who was looking at him in amusement.
“Of course,” Ohno chuckled as he held him from behind to pull him to his feet. Nino stumbled a little against his lover but found his balance soon after again. He checked on Kouhei who had his thumb in his mouth but was still a bit dozy as he stared around silently.
“Good, we should hurry now,” Ohno said to the two and grinned as he ran a few steps with them right behind him.
“Your father,” Nino said with a small sigh as he looked down at Kouhei before quickening his steps to follow them to the big building down the street.
There he took Nino’s hand in his own, squeezing his fingers slightly when Ohno looked down at him. “Will they be okay?” Nino asked in a worried voice. With the ban, they were so very vulnerable, and the thought hurt his heart.
“Yes, they will be fine here. The teachers will look after them, and they have each other,” Ohno whispered as he pressed his lips to Nino’s cheek. “Smile and say goodbye to your children. They’ll be scared if you look too worried.”
“I try,” Nino grumbled but followed the slight tug of Ohno to the classroom for his children. Nino bowed in front of the teacher with a nervous smile.
“Akito, Miharu say hello to your teacher,” Ohno called the children who came over from where they had stared at the colourful walls. Ohno smiled as he put a hand to one of their shoulders each.
“Hello,” they copied and bowed slightly in front of the teacher. The young woman smiled as she knelt and greeted the children first before greeting him and Ohno. They talked for a minute or two, Ohno making sure to leave his phone number behind so that they could be called if there were any problems.
“Have fun, you two,” Nino said in the end and kissed their cheeks. “And listen to your teacher.”
“Okay, papa,” they said as they hugged Nino around the waist, pressing their faces into his side. He chuckled as he ruffled their hair softly. “Bye-bi Kou,” Akito added as he waved at his little brother who answered something back as he waved his arms around.
Ohno’s arms wandered around Nino’s waist after he had said goodbye and watched the children running into the classroom to discover the toys without a look back. Ohno was glad for that even if it hurt a little bit. He hugged Nino closer to him as he carefully led him out of the building.
They weren’t even far away when Nino had to stop, shivering slightly in his arms as he hid his face against his shoulder.
“God I’m so stupid,” he murmured as little tears slipped down his cheeks.
“No, you are their father,” Ohno said softly kissing his forehead. “You have carried them under your heart for a long time. It’s normal that you are emotional,” he mumbled softly.
That was why he had wanted to be at home with Nino on their first day. Kouhei whined softly when he realised that his father was crying and lifted his fingers to wipe the tears away.
Nino chuckled softly when the little hands hit him more than they were really comforting. “Sorry, I’m okay, Kou. Papa isn’t sad anymore.”
“Dada,” Kouhei said, and Nino kissed his hands.
“Papa is fine,” Ohno agreed as he bopped Kouhei’s nose. Kouhei blinked before he giggled slightly, trying to catch his finger. “Let me treat you both to some sweets at the coffee shop.”
“We just had breakfast,” Nino mumbled.
“Yes, and you only managed two mouthfuls because you were so worried,” Ohno said with a sigh.
“Let’s have pancakes, with coffee or how about hot chocolate? You like hot chocolate, right?”
Nino’s eyes brightened at the prospect of hot chocolate. He drank it very seldom now because it felt somehow not right for an adult to have. “With whipped cream and marshmallows?” he asked shyly as he let Ohno lead them to the shop he had mentioned.
“Yep and this shop has chocolate flakes on top as well. You will like it. And then we will order fluffy pancakes with fruits and syrup.”
“Sounds good,” Nino decided as they entered the shop. Nino settled down on a bench to unwrap the baby sling and put Kouhei on his lap while Ohno organised a baby chair for them and ordered their food.
As they settled down with their food and Kouhei with a bottle of water and a mixed fruit bowl as they talked softly about Ohno’s work and Nino’s school. It was sweet somehow to talk uninterrupted by their two trouble makers. It reminded him of the time when they first met, and that was nice.
-
They spent most of the day outside, buying groceries and letting Kouhei play in the park. Their little boy enjoyed their attention very much, and Nino said it was cute to watch him run around and dragging their fathers around since they didn’t need to pay attention to his siblings.
Back home Ohno had started on making curry for their dinner while Nino put Kouhei down for his nap and started to clean their home a little bit before it was time for them to pick up the children again.
This time Ohno carried Kouhei on the way to kindergarten, grinning slightly when their terrible two directly ran to their papa. Nino hugged them close to himself as he picked them up with ease.
“Did you have fun?”
“Yes! Played many. Drawed also,” Miharu said as she hugged Nino around the neck. Nino chuckled as he bowed to the teacher who came to say goodbyes to the children who waved at the woman with bright grins on their faces. They were clearly coming back tomorrow they decided as Nino carried them out to help them with their coats so that they could go home.
Slowly but surely their life was coming together, and Nino for one was satisfied with that.
THE END
