Nana VS Honey and Clover

So I was reading an interesting conversation at the animesuki forums about which series is more realistic. And since both of these series are slice of life I don't think a comparison is so off base.

It is here if anyone is interested

For me, Honey and Clover just seems so much more realistic than Nana. That is not to say situations in Nana are not realistic but I just can't identify with the whole rock star thing at all. Now I am also not an artist but I had no problem identifying with the character's feelings in Honey and Clover. A lot of the doubt the characters portrayed in Honey and Clover (especially Takemoto) really hit home for me and that is why the anime was so special to me. That's not to say Nana is bad (because I actually really enjoyed it up to a point) but well it's not my life. So I think the difference (at least for me) is Nana might deal with the more gritty RL issues like sex, pregnancy, drugs, etc but with Honey and Clover the thoughts and feelings of the characters are more important than the actual situations. I guess in the end it all comes down to a matter of taste.
