I finally saw it today because I rented the last DVD from netflix. I also re-watched the last 4 episodes of the series again
First of all the special ending was so sweet. I knew they were reuinted with their families again but seeing it made me feel really emotional. I cried through the whole thing. Watching the anime I seemed to care the most about Aghi and Soreto's past but in this special ending I felt we got to know more about Tarlant and Hasmodai. The dog's name was Wonder/Wanda. XD And the last scene with Aghi and his sister was so heart warming. So was the scene when Soreto reuniting with her father. The scene in the anime when her father is calling out to her and she is running away and hiding from him always breaks my heart the most for some reason.
Anyways rewatching the series the two scenes in the end that effected me the most the second time around were surprisingly not Thoma realizing he was Sesu (or is it Seth the DVD's confused me) but when Helga hugged Dumas. Her holding him like that and how his expression changed was just so sad. I wish Dumas could have stayed with Helga. Because I realized it wasn't Tina calling him little brother but Helga with Tina's memories (and I still think there is a difference). I also cried when Tina told Sesu she would die with him and that is what brought Thoma back.
I also noticed more of the Belfort's children interaction with Thoma. Like Soreto sitting by Thoma's bed. And I also loved how Soreto was the one who got Dumas to stop the transfer machine (I think she might be my favorite of the Belfort Children). Soreto said Helga wanted to stay Helga and you know that meant a lot because the whole time they were searching for Tina to turn her back. And I think those words affected Dumas because again it was Helga who comforted him like that.
Although I still don't like the reincarnation Soran thing. But oh well it's only a minor thing
Anyways everyone should watch this anime. It is so smart and well done. And it really needs more love. I mean every review I've read of it is great and yet so few people have seen it. :(
