Dorian Gray

So recently (Id say around late spring/early summer) I started listening to the Big Finish range Dorian GrayBeing a Big Finish fan since the end of 2013 I had known about the range for awhile but I wasn't too interested. While I enjoyed the novel I didn't really think an entire range with Dorian as the main character could be that interesting ( Read more... )

I've heard of that range, and I do have one or two free stories that they were giving away since last December but that I haven't listened to yet. Not that I don't have the time, I think part of me is worried about falling in love with another range where I certainly don't have the money for it. XD Plus, having never read the novel it's not high on my priority list. I think I'd like to try Iris Wildthyme as my first "outside DW" range.

I double checked my account and I do have both free stories, as well as 1.1 This World Our Hell, which I believe was released for free as both of the Christmas promotion last year.

Thanks! I just got the free episode from Series 4. :)

I'm tempted, but for my annual Doctor Who convention I really want to upgrade my membership, especially after a bit of a line fiasco this year. Plus I don't have any roommates at the moment to help split the hotel bill, so saving up every little bit helps.

The World Our Hell is a great story to start with. Technically speaking the first two series aren't continuous at all & you can listen in any order but it doesn't hurt to start at the beginning. And if I am not mistaken This World Our Hell takes place in the earliest periods of Dorians Timeline. It also sets up the themes for the story very well and is genuinely creepy ( ... )

Ah, then I shall definitely have to actually give it a listen and see how I like it. Probably after the holidays though when I'm not rushed and can properly enjoy it ( ... )

I have not heard the Bernice Summerfield story it actually only comes in the physical release of Series 1 & 2 which I don't have not in the DL release.

But I love Dorian so much I am actually considering getting the physical releases eventually . I am going to be patient for sales though or I will pick them up at Li Who whatever comes first.

But as for the Bernie story it's not essential to listen to as it's not necessarily the same Dorian. Both are played by Vlahos but they did something different with the Dorian in the Bernie story from what I read about it. It might be good but it's skippable in the sense it doesn't impact this Dorian's story.

As for missing the con for plays well not really. I still plan to go all 3 days to the con I just might miss early hours on the first day and late hours on the last day if I have to catch a train home that day instead of staying in the hotel thst last night.

The plays are kind of important as I am seeing David Tennant in Richard II & Gillian Anderson in Street Car Named Desire.

I'll listen to the first four stories that I have, which, at the rate I listen to BF, will take me a couple of months at the least. XD ( ... )

And I just found that Big Finish has a 10 minute free preview of The Heart That Lives Alone on Sound Cloud. It's a 30 min long ep so that's a good chunk for free.
