Season 3 of Maverick
I wasn't planning on buying this because it was quite a bit more expensive than the previous 2 seasons but the more I watched I realized this season has quite a few episodes I really loved. Although I don't think it is quite as strong as season 2 and has a few more duds, it does have quite a few classic episodes. Of course it is the last full Garner season but for me it is ultimately the last full "Brother Season". Maverick Line in season 4 is actually the last Brother episode and a very good one at that (in fact it is definitely my favorite episode of season 4). But season 3 has a good amount of episodes with both Bret and Bart, although in a lot of them Bart just makes cameo appearances. I kind of have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I love when Bart shows up in a Bret episode, but I wish there were more episodes with equal appearances of both brothers and I wonder why Bret didn't make more cameo appearances in Bart episodes. I still feel WB seriously wasted the chemistry of Garner and Kelly.
But anyways my favorites of Season 3
Royal Four Flush- A cute Bart episode with some fun supporting characters and I love the ending. Based on the synopsis I was actually suspecting some drama which it wasn't at all, but I still enjoyed this one a lot.
The Sheriff of Duck and Shoot- Fun Bret episode of Bret being forced to become the Sheriff with Bart making a cameo in the last 10 mins.
A Tale of 3 Cities- Probably my favorite straight comedy Bart ep, just simply adorable from start to finish.
A Fellow's Brother- I probably shouldn't love this ep as much as I do because it goes against my principle of brotherly love but it's just so clever. But see Bret can be just as mean to Bart and for no reason really. There isn't even money at stake here. lol
Maverick Springs- Somewhat similar to Shady Deals at Sunny Acres and while it doesn't quite match that episode's strength it's still a lot of fun. The last 15 minutes when Bart joins Bret are especially great but the real surprise is Sig Ruman, who is one of my favorite character actors. He really only has a small part but he pretty much steals every scene he is in.
Maverick and Juliet- Cute episode with Bret and Bart having to compete against each other in poker for money and their lives. I think this episode perfectly exemplifies their relationship. They will never admit how much they care with words, but their actions speak louder. Of course once no one's lives are at stake than its each brother for himself again.

I still have a few episodes left from Season 3. But that number of classic episodes was enough for me to realize the season was worth purchasing even for a slightly higher cost. I am disappointed that only Garner appears on the cover though. I really would have liked a cover with Garner and Kelly together like season 2. :(
Many of these episodes (at least from the first 3 seasons) I now own twice, digitally on I-Tunes and on DVD. But I have also gotten into the habit of listening so some of my favorite Maverick episodes at work on my head phones. Even though I can't watch at work the dialog is so clever that they are still enjoyable just to sit back and listen to.
