Trek Films

Well I still need to see The Motion Picture but other than that I have now seen all the TOS Trek movies starting with The Wrath of Khan and ending with The Undiscovered CountryMy feelings for the films are mixed. I definitely prefer the TV series. With all it's campy 60's style, it was fresh, unique and just fun. The Original series was not perfect

Don't worry I do plan to watch the 1st movie, since I watched all the others it would be silly not too. Good to hear you enjoyed the friendship stuff. :)

I enjoy the whale movie but no more or less than the other ones. It actually feel more like an 80's film with the Star Trek characters than a true Star Trek film but it's cute. That hospital scene is probably my favorite in the movie because McCoy is awesome in those scenes (and I just love him). I also like Catherine Hicks in the movie, mainly because she doesn't fall in love with Kirk but instead becomes a friend (a rarity indeed).

I don't mind the ending for the 6th movie and hey they didn't listen and went off in the spaceship anyways (which is very much Kirk ignoring orders right to the end). But the theme of the movies is definitely about the passage of time and getting older. I think their time is up and it is time for another crew. I don't think they would ever leave each other's side though (especially Kirk/Spock/McCoy). The one thing I strongly dislike about the 6th film is Spock doing a mind meld on that Vulcan girl (it really bothers me).

I am not really interested in Generations. Don't care enough about Kirk by himself to see how he dies. Originally Spock and McCoy were supposed to be in it (but Kelley and Nimoy thought their characters had good enough endings in the 6th movie and rightly so). I might have been interested with Spock & McCoy but Kirk, Scott, and Chekov (not really).

A friend instead of a romantic interest is indeed a rarity in many series.

I was amused by them ignoring the orders. LOL. But I don't imagine they were able to keep that going for long. True, sadly, part of getting older is having to give up beloved jobs. But it seems like they were still physically able to keep going, so they shouldn't have had to quit yet.

I don't remember the mind meld in the sixth movie. Strange.

That's interesting that Spock and McCoy were originally going to be in Generations. Pity they weren't, but maybe it's just as well.

It looks like all the characters continued their career in some capacity as it looks like they were promoted from the end of the 6th movie. But I just see the final ending as them passing on the torch to the next generation which I think seems fitting, not that it was the actual end of them. And I think they can still go on their own adventures or camping trips

He mind melds the female Vulcan to find out where the peace treaty who was part of the whole betrayal. It makes me feel uncomfortable because it feels like a male dominating a female character (even though she was a bad guy). Needless to say it wasn't what I wanted as one of the last moments for Spock.
