Natsume Yuujinchou Manga
And I finally am completely caught up with the manga (well there are a few old chapters I still need to read but since I already saw the anime episodes I don't feel like I have all the information).
Anyways it's funny how I initially thought I would stick to just the anime, then the VIZ releases, then the scanlations, and then I got so desperate I started looking at the RAWs without the translations. I mean of course I am still happily going to buy all the official releases, but it will be fun being able to discuss the chapters with the fandom like I used to do with Hagaren. Natsume is monthly so I am not worried about not being able to keep up with it, which unfortunately is my issue with weekly series.
I have always been a fan of Natsume Yuujinchou. In 2008 I named it my anime of the year but lately I feel my love for the series has really increased, and I can't even pinpoint when and why specifically it started to happen this year.
Actually I think it was a lot of factors: that character poll and me really promoting Natsume Takashi, the anime finally getting licensed, finally reading the manga, more merchandise I want coming out for the series (Ichiban Kuji is especially killing me), and the last 3 episodes of Natsume Shi which were just everything I love about this series.
The last few manga chapters have been absolutely excellent too. I love reading Midriokawa's early thought on the manga how she wanted people to be able to pick it up whenever....well that's definitely not the case anymore. I mean I loved Natsume's early episodic stories but I am glad to see how much the story and character relationships have grown.
Actually I love how Natsume is slowly growing as a character and getting closer to others but as he does (and the manga highlights this beautifully) it becomes more difficult & scary for him. Natsume Yuujinchou is a supernatural and outwordly story but really to me it is one of the most human stories.
edit: Also in the 2nd to latest chapter Natori described Natsume in the most perfect way "gentle and reckless". It made me squee so hard. ♥
