Touch & Adachi

So I accomplished one of my goals for 2012 and that was to finish Touch

The other was to finish Legend of the Galactic Heroes. That probably will not happen this year because of school but I expect to at least finish the 2nd season and then get back to it when schooling is over. Well it took them 10 years to finish making the series, so I guess extending my watch is not such a bad thing.

Anyways back to Touch it was a series I was interesting in reading or watching for a long time. Back when I used to post on Rumic World, there was a poster who always used to talk about it and said along with Maison Ikkoku it was one of his favorite series. Well since Maison Ikkoku is one of my favorite series of course I was intrigued.

However it wasn't until I watched Cross Game which ended up becoming one of my favorite series ever that I realized I really needed to read Touch because where had Adachi been all my life. I mean he's been writing these wonderful coming of age stories since the 1980's and I am just discovering him now...something is really wrong with this picture.

So it took me a bit of time because I am slow with manga scalations but I finally finished Touch yesterday of course it was excellent..but maybe part of me regrets reading it after Cross Game because as much as I enjoyed Touch, I still love Cross Game quite a bit more.

Anyways another reason why I finally finished Touch, is Adachi has started a new monthly manga called Mix that is a sort of sequel to Touch. So far there doesn't seem to be any of the same characters but it takes place 26 years after Touch and involves the same High School, so it will be interesting to see how things turn out. Still baseball and mentions of Koshien, and a character who looks like a mix of Tatsuya & Kou but so far the storyline is a bit different to me from either Cross Game or Touch...for one thing both of brothers have talent for the sport right off the bat and seem to know it whereas Kou and especially Tatsuya had to be pushed a bit. However I do expect something to change the status quo pretty soon. Only 2 chapters in and I am already enjoying the "Adachi Touch" (no pun intended).

I am also happy that it's monthly since I think I will do a better job keeping up with it then with a weekly series (although now that I have a Kindle I do want to catch up with One Piece & Silver Spoon at least).

cross game, manga, touch, adachi, mix
