Fall Anime 2011
My thoughts on the upcoming fall anime season
Well it looks like the top 3 popular series are Last Exile, Guilty Crown and Hunter X Hunter
I honestly didn't like the first Last Exile (I am one of the few) so I am not sure about the sequel but I like that Maaya Sakamoto is singing the opening. This is a maybe
Guilty Crown has nice character designs but it honestly sounds like the love child of Death Note and Code Geass (what is it doing on Noitamina, shows how much the block has changed). So I am not so sure about this one. It's another maybe.
Finally Hunter X Hunter although I never saw the first anime series I did read quite a bit of the manga (before Togashi's endless breaks and I got bored). I especially loved Gon & Killua. But I am worried about how long this series is going to be. I don't think I can commit to a super long series.
As for other series I already talked about Kimi To Boku apparently it's going to be 2 cour with one season airing in the fall and another in 2012. This I will definitely be checking out.
Tamayura Hitose (as I mentioned in my last post) is written/directed by Junichi Sato, it sounds like a pleasant slice of life series (with Maya Sakamoto and Megumi Nakajima singing the OP/ED) so it's one I will also definitely try a few episodes. Apparently there was also an OVA so maybe I will try to watch that first.
Finally I recently noticed Chiayafuru the description makes me think of Hikaru no Go (a good thing) just with a female protagonist. And well ever since I got it as an extra from the FMA manga I've been interested in Karuta. The series is also Josei.
I also might check out Un-Go the other Noitamina series. The mystery premise sounds intriguing but I am not too fond of the character designs. Well I have learned not to judge a series by appearance.
And if all fails I will still have Mawaru Penguin Drum and too many movies to watch on TCM.
