This is a bit late (because I just realized it) but tonight (starting now actually at 8:00 PM EST) TCM is showing a night of lesser known POW films (as in not Stalag 17 or Great Escape probably the two best known ones)
The first one is one I have not seen is The Wooden Horse (1950)
British POWs use gymnastics practice to cover their work on an escape tunnel.
The next one is the Colditz Story (1955) which I have seen and I thought was pretty good.
Allied POWs plot to escape from a Nazi-held castle.
And next is a movie called The One That Got Away (1958) which I have also not seen but not sure if I will be able to stay up for it.
A downed German flier escapes from every prison camp he's put into. (I guess this is the opposite side of things)
All are based on true stories
Since Hogan's Heroes I have definitely become a fan of POW films. And I would say it is now my favorite sub genre of war films
